Thanet Island Discs
I say! Our Greatest Living Thanetian is on Radio 4 this morning! No, I'm not talking about that pretender over in Westgate, but rather Oliver Postgate, creator of Noggin The Nog, Bagpuss and The Clangers, all filmed in a converted cow shed somewhere near Canterbury. The octogenerian animator, who lives in Broadstairs, is putting in a rare appearance this morning on Desert Island Discs at 11.15.

Now there IS a bod worthy of a place in the proposed Turnip....
but I expect we'll be saddled with 'her' laundry.
I heard part of the programme and a lovely gentleman he sounded too
If anyone deserves a knighthood it's Oliver Postgate. There's an exhibition on at the Canterbury Museum where you can see the real Bagpuss, well worth a trip if you're a Postgate fan.
Bagpuss graduated at the same degree ceremony in canterbury cathedral as I did - not a lot of people know that!
