Has McCain Had His Chips?

With the Septics holding a bit of an old vote for Prez today, I thought I'd pop a 24 hour poll in the sidebar on the right to gauge Thanetian opinion on who should be the most powerful man in the world.

Remember, this is just for fun. Oh hell, who am I kidding, this ain't the BBC. So I promise that whoever the island votes for will be the winner!

I'm glad all these shenanigans may be coming to an end. Its been 21 months since the electioneering began in the US. If the Beeb is to be believed, Obama won it nine months ago. It will certainly be interesting to see the final outcome if only to finally establish whether or not the USA is ready for its first black president.

I'm keen to see all this crap ending soon, & with the USA so PC-orientated, why have they been so obsessed with the candidates' gender (Clinton), age (McCain) & race (Obama)?

If only everyone in this country showed as must interest in LOCAL issues...

Pigs might fly Peter! But I agree with you it would be good if they did show an interest - until they do i fear we are stuck with Sandy's Beachettes

Or Nicholson's Nickerettes (geddit ?)

If only people in Brian cud spell Petre Chickfooled...

I'm enjoying the coverage actually. It's a bit worrying though that the only time in history when america has considered giving anything resembling a black person any power is just as the coffers are empty and mortaged up to it's neck to china. To put it in a local frame of reference it would be like allowing some people from Cliftonville to run TDC.....right about now.

I just hope the republicans dont win it back with yet another bland white man resembling Elmer Fudd in four years, after the democrats struggle against all odds to get the country out of a depression, caused by republicans and their banker and broker cronies.

If Obama gets elected it will be a boost for Manston.

Whatever happens, it will be a boost for Manston.

If cyclohexanone has reached that far a discarded fag end could be a boost to Manston

The only hope for Manston would be if there was an earthquake and it took the opportunity to sneak off towards Sussex, out of the corrupt, thieving old fingers of certain people

What I find really odd is that Obama's race should be an issue at all in the PC world that the USA has created for itself and Europe. He is an American! Or could it be that race in America is still a serious issue for all the PC posturing?

Obama will win... He won't last long.

I see another assassination attempt ahead, although I think the next one will be successful. Then America will pick another white guy coz thats what they really want. They'll only let Obama in to "prove" that they really do "believe" in equal rights now, which is why they will then need to get rid of him as soon as they can.

10:51 PM, I already said that...

Barack Obama went to a stag night in Bracknell in the mid 90s and seriously discussed whether he should change his first name to 'Barry'.

Oh stop this barracking, he has won already.

The result has lifted my spirits - perhaps the sea change will filter through to Thanet one day and we will get rid of all the self interested Elmer Fudds currently running the district and replace them with people that actually care about the welfare of their constituents.

How many black councillors are there in Kent again?

Anonymous said...

Don;t know but the Chief Constable is black.

We in the US talk a good PC game, but the race card is still very much in play over here, I am afraid. Mr. Obama does not want to make race an issue and whites are glad of that - but blacks are miffed that he won't make it an issue (as seen on CNN earlier today). Regretfully I agree that there will be an assassination attempt in the near future, but the result will be that of making us stronger and the majority adopting an "I'll show you!" attitude. Those responsible will be total radicals and will be caught and imprisoned for life.

You can't imprison the so called radicals, they're the ones running your country.

Maybe you should pop over there and sort them right out?
