Mayoral Chains

Now that The Mayor and I are on cordial speaking terms, it's time for a spot of mutual admiration.

I must say, I thoroughly approve of his plan to chain himself, like a kind of muncipal David Blaine, to Albion House as a way of stopping the developers' bulldozers. If he can give me enough notice, I'll try and get some of my TV pals to come down to Ramsgate and cover it.

Now all we need is a nickname, something that will catch on with the red tops. Steve 'Mental' Ward, The Crazy Campaigning Councillor, perhaps?

These Cinque Port lot call themselves the chain gang, so chaining one of them to the railings would at least get some use from Ramsgate's Chain.
It's reputed to be worth about £300K, enough to buy Albion House?

Buy a house with no chain, with a chain! Perfect!

By the way, DG, I didn't spot you at the bash on Saturday or I would have come over and said hello. I'm sure you were there, but the old bionic eye ain't what it used to be, so I probably missed you.

You'll be pleased to hear I did stuff a couple of 50s in one of the ERA buckets, though.

I am always ready to give credit where it is due.
Regardless of the critics who knock
local government, Our Mayors and Councillors do a fine job in standing up to the Civil servants at T.D.C on our behalf.

Well Done to you all.

I'd cautiously second that, DVT. I'm not sure that all our councillors have our best interests at heart, but then I'm a cynical old sceptic.

I do know that DG (and EG for that matter) seem to do a very good job round here, and are pretty tenacious when it comes to fighting our corner.

What is frustrating is that awkward questions from councillors often seem to be batted off by the council officers, or cabinet members, under the cover of 'confidentiality'. Anyone would think they were the Freemasons. Oh, hang on a minute, i think I've opened another can of worms...

Steve Ward-off Salad would make him sound nutty.

Thanks for the kind words. Yes Liz and I were both at the bash, and at the bandstand on Sunday to welcome the kids back from the Carnival.
The people who organise these events are marvelous dont you think?

What a shame we didn't meet up. But then I was keeping a low profile - wouldn't want to be mobbed by hoards of adoring fans!
