Lingua Latrina

Seeing as I've been ousted on the UK list of most influential blogs by both our local biblio-bloke and Bertie Biggles, I'm taking a bold (some may say desperate) decision to add some class to these jottings.

Both aforementioned organs are distinguished by their lengthy and erudite postings, whereas my musings tend to be short and to the point, often with a touch of toilet humour to help lighten the load. But from now on I'll be posting only in Latin.

Not only should this see the number and quality of readers increase substantially, it'll also have the added benefit of befuddling the bewigged, seeing as this is Big Libel Week. As Cicero once said: 'Caesar adsum iam forte, Brutus adarat. Caesar sic in omnibus, Brutus sic inat.' Benedictus benedicat!

I think it would be far more amusing to repeat sketches from Up Pompeii. Salute Citizens, featuring Frankie Howerd as Lurcio, with outrageous characters as Scrubba, the bosomy young domestic cleaner/slave and her friend Bilious, the permanently ill youth from the house next door.
As for the standard bearers carrying the legend SPQR, it was never Senatus PopulusQue Romanus but actually meant Small Profit, Quick Return. Who said the Romans never had a sense of humour.

Salute.

7:09pm - quis arseholus! Tuum nomen Antonius Flaigius fortasse est?

Well no, I suppose my 7:09 comment wouldn't suit your agenda at all, would it, ECR?
It was really intended for Michael, but, on the strength of your paranoid reaction, perhaps it applies to you also, somewhat.

Tony Flaig, indeed!!!
Did you spot any spelling mistakes?
Did I threaten you?
Did it really come across as paranoid as your act of removing it?

You need to get over him (I can lend you a set of ladders) and move on!

I am remarkably free, 7:09pm/9:10am, of agendas and paranoia. Like farts, I find when accusations of agendas and paranoia are being bandied about it's usually a case of 'he who smelt it dealt it.'

It was unclear as to whether your comment referred to our local bibliobloke or my original post, but either way I would have deleted it as it really wasn't a very kind thing to say, was it? However, at nearly 1am I usually have a couple of bottles of the good stuff inside me, so please excuse my immoderate language and use of the 'F' word. It seemed amusing at the time.

As for getting over Antonius Flaigius, you can keep your ladders, I'm going to need a crane!

Perhaps you could get over him, on the Scenic Railway?
Do hurry though. If they have removed security from Dreamland, it might not be tall enough for the job, for much longer!

ps. When has 'the kind thing to say' ever been amusing?

Richard Eastcliff said...

Ah, you've missed yet another layer of irony there, 1:15pm!

I think you miss the point of me missing it!

Go on, say something nice, and just see if anybody laughs.
