Reader Ken has sent me this photo which he took about an hour ago of the Ostend Spirit in Ramsgate. It should be chuffing back to Belgium about now, ready to return to Ramsgate with its first paying passengers tomorrow morning.It may only be a conventional craft, but it got here a lot quicker than that blinkin' fast ferry!

Hmmm.. have I missed something here? Am I right in thinking that this new ferry goes to the same place as Transeuropa Ferries have gone for years? also in partnership with LD lines and still does not offer foot passengers a chance to travel?
What has Ramsgate gained here apart from more shipping fumes?

Foot passengers and bicycles will be tolerated very soon by TEF, because a lot of inhabitants from Ostend are proud to see their Prince back and want to hop on a journey to Kent! Ramsgate has earned the title "Alternative to Dover's busy port" Greetings from Belgium

What's wrong with cyclists ? Frenchmen with striped jumpers strings of garlic and a bike are quintessentially French adverts see this piccie
