Night Of The Tory Plastic Knives

Yikes! That's scary!

I see from the What's On In Thanet section in my sidebar on the right that the local Blue Rinsers are due to meet later. The rumour is that there'll be a leadership bid to oust the current f*cking tossers, but then we've had these false dawns before.

Why they can't choose someone who, in the words of the old ad adage, is legal, decent, honest and truthful is beyond me. Maybe the Torysaurus gene pool round here is depleted. Even the 'young Turks' are in their 50s. So even if it does happen, don't expect a trendy toff like Dave to be taking over. More likely the beards will have it. Or we'll all be on Bayford Watch for the next two years!

Update: As predicted, the cutlery last night was the cheap plastic kind you get in BA Economy, and as a result our Sandy remains council leader. That said, there do appear to be plenty of Tories who are less than delighted with having a foul-mouthed petition-botherer, whose foreign trips come courtesy of local businessmen, at the helm. Maybe we should be taking a leaf out of Canvey Island's book, where 15 of the 17 councillors belong to the Canvey Island Independent Party? Anyone for IOTIP?

Thanet has a leader! Why change him? - he does what he does very well!

Sandy is good for the conservatives because his unites them, and he is good for Thanet's image. I am sure he does not even think about himself - in this worldwide difficult time we are lucky to have a leader respected by everyone. Nobody laughs at Thanet's state of afairs!

Though advertising the wares of his business across his forehead at public meetings is a bit cheeky, isn't it?

If he's kicked out I guess he'll be spending a night on the carpet tiles.

He's floor, sorry sure, to be vited out!

Nottingham's having a field day on his blog. Slagging off the Zeek and Rog OBE like there is no tomorrow. Anybody would think he and his cronies are blame free. Like Doug Clark never bullied the Zeeks missus, while all the Labour mob watched from a safe distance. And Dave Boy Green and dear old Irish have never been in front of the beak. Good sport this though. I don't think the tory top team could ever be as cruel and vindictive as labour are, but I'm hoping they are going to have a go.

Any chance Simon Moores will do a live blog from the tory meeting, or better still a webcast?

Thanet council leader Sandy Ezekiel was among the first to sample the delights of the new Pie 'n' Mash shop in Margate.

TDC Councillors are a regular item of discussion and humour when other Councillors from East Kent Councils meet.

Allegedly......

Absolutely spot on, 2:23. Can't think of another Tory Leader in the South East who has even appeared once before a Standards Hearing, let alone twice. So you are right about Sandy; nobody does it better!

I should be Leader and I'll fight anyone who says I'm not fit for the position.

10.04 a short English lesson:

Sandy is still 'their' leader - and losing not loseling.

If true - how sad for Thanet

Now who said that bribery and corruption are dead!

Works well in Thanet!

Well 10.04, thanks for reporting that a foul-mouthed carpet fitter who cannot behave in public with decorum has been voted in as Leader for the Tories for another year, despite his disgraceful conduct. I wonder if Labour under Hart will raise a vote of no confidence in him at the earliest opportunity?

He's our own little George Bush, is Sandy.
Stuffed in the front line, saying ridiculous things, behaving like a thug and generally making a right twat of himself.
Perfect to make things that are going on in the background seem perfectly reasonable, or just get ignored!

Lucy - a concern of mine is that Sandy's thuggish behaviour gives licence for others to follow his pattern of behaviour - and some do. Are these the people we really want representing us?

How many people who contribute to this site have actually witnessed Cllr Ezekiel behaving in a thuggish manner? It is easy to stand behind anonymity and make these spurious allegations. How easy it is to jump on a band wagon and knock someone when you don’t have to put your name to it. Has anyone who makes these comments spoken personally to Cllr Ezekiel or are they only going on hearsay and gossip?

The Oxford dictionary defines thuggish behaviour as “a man who acts violently, especially to commit a crime:” I have never witnessed this behaviour from Cllr Ezekiel, nor has it ever been reported.

It was reported that the “overwhelming” majority of Cllrs voted for him last night, well over 50%. I would suggest that this is enough to allow him to now continue without personal attacks and smear campaigns against him. Political banter is acceptable, but not personal comments. His family have been at the sharp end of these attacks, and this is reprehensible. How low will people go when they have to start attacking the family? All credit to Cheryl Ezekiel for maintaining her dignity during those difficult times, shame that Douglas Clark did not come out with the same level of integrity. Perhaps now would be an opportune time to put the papers into the public domain, let the discerning public know the truth.

It isnt only his behaviour it is those around him too - too many stories to go into detail here!
We the electorate of Thanet deserve better and ECR you will start to be a rallying post i think for those who will stand as independants!

Head, SMEG said...

I think last nights result makes things quite easy - if you don't like Sandy, don't vote Tory, tell your local tory candidate you won't be voting and the reason why.

Anonymous said...

or stand in your ward as an independant against him - others will be too!

Jack said...

The votes have been cast and Sandy's the man. The reality is that a) blogging is fun but impotent, b) no-one will stand as an independent because of this, and c) worse things do happen elsewhere.
On our doorstep in Deal the town council has beed disbanded because of Labour sleaze with two of their members swapping to Tory to get away from the stink!
The 4th of June will be interesting, I think there'll be some surprises.

I think you have missed the point, Ann. Regardless of what bloggers may say - in support of Ezekiel or otherwise - the incontrovertible evidence of his behaviour is out there for everyone to see.

He has fallen foul of the Standards Board on three separate occasions. However typical of his overall personal behaviour he has, in public, behaved wholly unacceptably. Whether he and his family members have been provoked or not, as you and others claim, his conduct is "out of order".

No snipes, no unfair personal comments, just facts. Which you choose to ignore.

If you think he enhances the reputation of Thanet and the landscape, that is your opinion. Sadly - for you - it is, it seems, out of step with the majority local view. Apart of course from the Tory Group, who are guided by other (self) interests.

Night of the plastic knives indeed!

Moores nominates Gideon.

Gideon looses vote and is sacked from cabinet.

Moores joins the cabinet?

If you want to get rid of a leader you put up a viable candidate, not two in order to split the vote; so congrats to Moores on acting on orders and nominating a second rival to ensure the vote against Eze-kill was split.

And your reward honourable lap dog, a place at the leaders cabinet table.

It's enough to make you throw up! Especially as the unassuming one now spraeds it all over his Thanet Death site, with the obligatory, "Isn't he wonderful" citations from the leader.

And he (Moores) tries to tell people he is morally upright.......
