Stats The Way To Do It

Crumbs! Visitor numbers seem to be soaring here on the island's premier blog! Must be all the controversy over night flights at Chas'n'Dave International Airport. The graph shows the daily stats from my county-uppy-ometer as they stood first thing this morning. Yesterday, 5 Feb, I almost topped 1000!

Still, drilling down (as they say), at least some people out there are embracing the news that an expanded C'n'DIA will create local jobs:

And talking of expansion, KCC seem to be well on the way to achieving their masterplan for world domination!

Do I detect a note of sarcasm in your voice Richard?

Me? Sarcastic? Never!

Let me confirm right now, Richard is never sarcastic. Often Abrasive, Often Controversial, Often aggressive, Often outspoken, and occasionally wrong, but always worth a read and a titter.

Thanks KG. However, like the Pope I am never ever wrong, although occasionally I do sh*t in the woods.

And, er, yes, I've read the story again and it would seem on first glance that some people might have got the impression that the number of visitors had dropped off a cliff rather than 'soared'. Hence the accusation of sarcasm.

In fact that graph shows how things stood first thing this morning, 6 Feb. So yesterday there were roughly 900 page views, and today, up to about 10.30am, there had been about 150.

I've altered the story to clarify that.

Richard I have never set up proper statistics for my blog but here are the michaelsbookshop.com ones http://www.michaelsbookshop.com/stats/ as you see most people only stayed for less than 30 secs. I always feel it’s a case of lies damned lies and statistics with web stats. However viewed one way we are both getting about as much traffic as Kent TV ah but what does it all mean?

At least you don't cost the council taxpayer a bean unlike kent TV that is really hitting the KCC taxpayer for £000000s.

Michael I spend more than 30 seconds on your site not sure about yours though Richard but I might spend more time on Kens after he has confirmed what I have thought for a long time........ seriously though stats can be seen as SMEG hitting sites to look as more people care but that could be my note of sarcasm

Well as I said in the item, Don, there is controversy over the night flights. Which is why the number of visitors to this site has increased, I suppose.

Just like they increased when the Scenic burnt down last year, or when Ramsgate got wood last month. I'm sure the new visitors weren't all arsonists or beachcombers. Some people like to be well-informed.

I could just brush it all under one of Sandy's carpets if you like. But I expect if I did, we'd soon have a very lumpy shagpile here in Thanet.
