Time Running Out For Doctor Banner Bid

There's only an hour or so left if you want to get your very own banner tugged by our local doctor/councillor, who's making the Christmas charity offer on eBay. Bidding started at £150, and so far it's up to, er, £150 since nobody's yet made a bid.

As Marvel Comics fans will remember, Dr. Banner was the Incredible Hulk's real name. Let's hope our chap doesn't turn green and split his shirt open if the sponds aren't forthcoming!

Click here if you want your banner tugged

Update: Bidding has now closed with the grand total of 0, zero, none, nada, no bids.

Aw bless... Perhaps he should tow a banner saying "billy no mates"

At least he is prepared to raise money for charity. Be more charitable at this time of year?

Don't be fooled by 'Biggles' latest publicity stunt. The real winner here will be his banner flying company & his inflated ego.

He will most probably get his media cronies to cover the event in as many papers & on as many tv channels as possible.

Thinks....'Infratil..Oasis..Airads =
Charity stunt'

Be more charitable? Only last month I raised 37 quid for Children in Need on this blog. That's 37 more than he's raised so far, and I didn't shout about it to the papers!

And that was my own dosh, not someone else's! Grrr!

Having never flown and not able to afford to do so it seems that£150 was a very good price.
To be able to advertise to the whole of Thanet and go along for the ride must be worth more than that.
Anon 2:41-how is it that the good doctor is fooling anyone by offering his services(fuel, time and airport fee's)he might get some extra work out of it and regardless of your political colour you have to agree that is good for Thanet, the charity wins,Thanet wins,Biggles wins and it seems the only loser is you.
If i had half the intelligence of
moore's or eastcliff then i would still have ten times more than you.

Anon 7.11, for the/your record, I did not place the 2.41 comment. I have placed no comment, anywhere, about this latest venture from Dr Moores.

If your "insane, bigoted twat" insult is intended for the author of the comment, then that is between you and him/her. If you were aiming it at me, without any basis, reason or evidence for doing so, then you should be worried because your immoderate words have just returned - boomerang-like - to smack you in your foul mouth.

Well that's stirred the possum, hasn't it?

Maybe I shouldn't have given the Doc's offer the oxygen of publicity!

But please, less of the twat talk. I had enough trouble with that kind of thing last year.

As for your offer, Tony. I'd be happy to share double billing with you.

What a brilliant Idea! An offer made and accepted and the ECR/BIGNEWS/THANETONIAN banner behind Biggle's plane would be just bloody marvellous! Go for it guys! It would then be two good causes being supported!

Well I'm up for it if they are. Might be a bit of a squeeze in the Doc's cockpit though. And he's only allowing 34 characters on his banner so fitting it all on will be tight too.

Unfortunately, however, His Biggleship no longer visits my blog for personal reasons, so he's unlikely to be aware of the offer, let alone take it up.

Four of Thanet's finest in the same aircraft? What if it crashes? Imagine the loss to the island.

Well I see he's given it another go on eBay, and to be fair it's not a bad price. I bought she-who-must-be-adored a flying lesson a couple of years ago for about the same money, and I think she'd enjoy flying as a passenger over places she could recognize just as much of a treat. Luckily, or unluckily, we've agreed to spend sensible amounts this year, so I don't have to impress quite as much.

And what the Flying Doctor is giving is his time on a presumably otherwise busy day, so I think any PR he gets is fair enough - it would be trailing a banner of the winner's choice after all, not his.

There are occasionally reasons to snipe at his site and sometimes at his politics, but this isn't one of them, methinks...

Can't we chuck in 10.00 each and say Happy Xmas from Thanet Bloggers? It'll confuse people if nothing else... Mind you we'll never agree on a charity to give it to...

I'm afraid any opportunity is an opportunity to snipe where the Doctor's concerned, Zumi.

But look, I've done my best to publicise it. I've bent over backwards to go halves with Tony Flaig. I'd even go tenths with 9 other bloggers. But as I said before, if he doesn't bother visiting other people's sites he ain't ever going to take it up, is he?
