Jumbo Problem

And just before I go, good luck to all you Ramsgatonians who'll be suffering in your jocks yet again this weekend as that jumbo jet flies round and round every ten minutes.

Our noise-and-air-pollution-loving Doctor Councillor/Councillor Doctor is, of course, a chum of the pilot and wants you all to take a nice photograph of the plane as it blows your roof tiles off. I suggest you tell him what you think of that idea here!

Right, where are the keys to the Prius?

Tony, how do you know there is no pollution? How do you know how many people visited Thanet Saturday and went home thinking, nice place, shame about the plane?

Eddie
my plants, flowers and trees are all growing well, surely pollution would affect them. If I visit towns with an airport I don't think I would be too surprised to see planes flying around.

No-one is objecting to planes as such, but just this one infuriating blighter who spends all weekend going round and round in circles above our heads, Tony

Millicent,
surely it was only on Saturday for a few hours was it not?

Actually it's all day, it's most saturdays and some sundays and as it crosses over the town it's incredibly low and incredibly intrusive as converstations have to pause and the tv/music one might be enjoying are drowned out. We know theres an airport but there are other routes to that airport that are less densly populated!

Jet fuel (Kerosene/Paraffin) contains carcinogens, and a lot is sprayed, unburnt and vapourised, when jet engines are ramped up and down, (takeoff and landing), from the exhaust of the engine. Also a large amount of CO2 (a major greenhouse gas) is produced. At a very low altitude. this tends to keep the (unburnt) hydrocarbons close to the ground.

Also no VAT is levied on Jet fuel. Its very cheap...
