Ye Cannae Change The Laws Of Physics

Except on the Ile de Thanet, of course. The headline on the front page of the latest edition of 'Thanet Matters', our local council's free, er, magazine, trumpets: Preserving Our Area - Conservation In Action.

In fact lots of things here on Ramsgate's East Cliff have been preserved for quite some time now thanks to conservation inaction, and the peculiar laws of quantum mechanics that apply on Uranus.

LAW 1: WHAT GOES UP NEVER COMES DOWN

Scaffolding in Augusta Road. Been there for the best part of a year.

LAW 2: WHAT COMES DOWN NEVER GOES UP

Pleasurama. Burnt down seven years ago.

The Granville. Partly rebuilt a while back, but not this bit which, according to planning permission granted years ago, should look like this by now:

LAW 3: WHAT GOES UP KEEPS GOING UP AND UP

Temporary fencing on our crumbling cliff top. Been there for almost two years, and more keeps going up every week.

LAW 4: WHAT GOES UP SOMETIMES COMES DOWN AFTER A FEW WEEKS

October 2006 - the developer's sign goes up.

November 2006 - the developer's sign comes down.

LAW 5: AND SOME THINGS DON'T GO UP OR DOWN

'Nuff said.

A bit of scaffolding in Augusta Road gets top billing over actual issues of concern?
Barely a week goes by without some mention of that entirely insignificant row of 'has-been' houses.
You need to be careful, you know.
You'll have Dr Billie Piper round there, sticking his nose into schollboys in shorts.

Well, Disgusta Road would be very attractive if it wasn't for these eyesores, Luce old bean.

I suppose we'll now get that radio chap from Finchley coming on saying Ramsgate's one big eyesore. Which is a bit rich from somebody who resides somewhere between the A1 and the North Circular Road!

Couldn't honestly say that he looks like a DJ to me. More like a balding chipmunk.
He certainly doesn't cut half the dash that that Chris Moyles does.
He almost has his razor sharp, rapier wit, though!
