Broadstairs Population Jumps 8000%

Holy birth rates! According to the website True Knowledge (so it must be true then), the population of Boredstares has soared from 24,370 to 1,881,376 in the past year! That's almost twice the size of Birmingham!

No wonder the place is chocka locka with builders driving V8 Range Rovers, accompanied by the inevitable WAGs in bleached/straightened wigs. Mind you, that's nothing compared to Margate, which now apparently boasts 4,328,122 inhabitants.

Personally I think they may have got it a bit wrong. But if you look at a more, er, trustworthy source like Wolfram Alpha, you'll see that although Broadstairs and Ramsgate have remained roughly the same since the 2001 census at 23,283 and 38,624 respectively, Margate's population is in fact estimated to have boomed almost 50% from 40,386 to 60,134.

Talk about immigration! [No, let's not - Ed]

It just has to be down to immigrants and asylum seekers so, evidently, the last government were giving out doctored statistics for these groups as some of us suspected!! Thought there were more sun tans around Broadstairs than the weather justified!

Yes, delightful if you like your twee served with lashings of instant tan and a side order of personalised number plates.

Oh poor "Doctor" Moores. It would seem that the nasty - well he is a member of the (still) Nasty Party - little story he ran about his fellow Ward Councillor, Independent Tom KIng, has blown up horridly in his face. Councillor King has answered fully on Thanet Coast Life, and, frankly, it makes the "Doctor" and the little parrot who flew in to back him up - fellow Tory (once Labour) Ken Gregory - look rather foolish.

One could almost say the story smacks of misinformation, insult, or even defamation - the term the "Doctor" loves to hurl around frantically and use as a threat against opponents. I wonder if we will see an acknowledgement and maybe even an apology on Thanet Life.

No-one hold your breath!

What the fornication has the Moore/King spat got to do with the population surge in Broadstairs unless they are all coming here to watch developments and read the blogs. By the way, when it comes to nasty, did you see that guy from the News Statesman on Question Time on Thursday? Now that was nasty, full of spite and wetting himself with rage at the wicked Lib/Dem sell out. Don't you just love it when they hurt!

You're quite right, Rock, I should have put that under the next strand - about Ezekiel the Departed. oops! But you have compounded my error by your wider references, so...

Clearly someone somewhere is paying black hat SEO companies in the far east to boost Margate's rankings on Google by writing utter bilge about the place and spamming it all over the internet. Here's something I came across just today:

Having fun in Margate - Kent

It talks about 'the historic little town of Margate', 'a number of cinemas', 'two museums' (one being the 'Power Cotton Museum'), and 'Georgian and Victorian buildings, some of them nearly 500 years old'. It's hilarious.
