Real Deal

Unlike some ferry companies I can't mention, LD Lines seems like a proper, reliable outfit and are forging ahead with advertising their new service between Ramsgate and Oostende (Ostend in old money).

48 sovs for a car and up to five passengers return seems like a snip. In fact by going direct to the LD Lines website I shaved another three quid off that. For comparison I tried booking Norfolk Lines from Dover to Dunkerque (Dunkirk in old money) with five people and a car, and they wanted £27 more!

LD Lines have also constructed a full page on their website about the delights of the Millionaires' Playground, so it's just possible we could get some visitors from t'other side in return, a stark contrast to the tourism-job-sapping Manston - Edinburgh flights.

And while we're on the topic of deals, don't forget that Ramsgate's very own Eddie Gilbert's, easily the best fish and chip shop in Thanet if not Kent or indeed the entire world, is currently offering free chips with every large portion of fish to celebrate National Chip Week. The offer ends tomorrow, so hurry! Sadly LD Lines have left EG's, Age & Sons and many other top Ramsgate eateries off their website, so they need to pull their finger out there!

I hear TDC's tourism folk are offering an incentive to the jocks to fly down from Edinburgh ECR. The first 10 will get the chance to stick their caber up your soft southern jack. Apparently Flybe can't keep up with demand!

Not all the duffers are in Fanit according to todays Sun
CRACKPOT councils are wasting thousands of pounds . . . by suing THEMSELVES over parking tickets.
At least six local authorities have issued tickets against their own vehicles - then refused to pay the fines to themselves.
Some cases went through a staggering 14 stages before reaching a Parking Appeals tribunal.

One farce saw Islington Council in North London issue a ticket, then take itself to an appeal hearing - where it asked for costs against itself. The costs process involves another four steps.
Stunned adjudicator Gerald Styles said he could not make an order for costs because the council could not "act wholly unreasonably or vexatiously against itself".
Parking law expert Barrie Segal, who unearthed the crazy cases, said: "This is a complete waste of taxpayers' money and illustrates everything that is wrong with unaccountable parking enforcement in the UK.
"If they ever make a sequel to the film Dumb and Dumber, I'd suggest the producers look no further than Islington Parking Department for the starring roles."
Other culprits include the London boroughs of Southwark, Lambeth, Hackney and Ealing, plus Kingston in Surrey.
Some fined themselves on multiple occasions. Each case is thought to have cost hundreds of pounds and countless man hours to pursue.
Mr Segal added: "Councils are so blinkered in their efforts to raise revenue from parking fines they even chase themselves for the money. The whole thing is ludicrous."

There's an oppotunity here for you ECR to open a unique souvenir shop in Ramsgate. Model planes, ferries, javelin trains and those historic boats in the harbour. I am sure you can come up with a few ideas. And to top it all TDC is giving away £2,500 for any start up shop. Well I say TDC but cllr Nottingham will tell you its comming direct from the labour gov.

I hope TDC comes up with the spondulicks and gets the dredging done in time.......apart from all the other required works.

As if Scotland isn't awash with enebriated jocks we're trying to import them!!! Look forward to seeing hordes of kilted ginger tam-o-shanter pillocks throwing up on Ramsgate beach after consuming too much meths mixed with irn-bru. I'm told it's going to be good for the local economy.

This is Edinburgh, not Glasgow. Most of the people there are higher class than the average Ramsgatian. I'd prefer flights to Aberdeen personally though.

I hear TDC's ASBO folk are filling the first flight with Braveheart-tattoed, Buckfast swilling, caber tossing, haggis munching heroin and pie addicted half bald ginger pricks like you, 2:20pm. Thank heavens for Flybe!

Who gives a toss (of the caber).

If they are reliant on the ear'you jet
information, then this route or is that a rout - will fail and be a very expensive loss in many ways?

Perhaps if when/this fails then, this will enable KIA/TDC/KCC to allow all night freight flights, just a thought?

So why don't you get on the first flight and go an live up there Peter? You clearly hate the people who live in this area so get lost.

I don't hate anyone, which is why I'm one of the few people who openly welcome all those beautiful east Europeans to Thanet. I welcome all creeds, colours & classes. But particularly the female ones. ; )

thats not cheap. I can fly from Manston to Scotland for the same price! many many more miles!

My God, you're like some throwback to the '60s.

I would have thought a throwback to the pleistocene era, would be more appropriate.
