Thanet Goes Down The Gurgler

That's that, then. It's Blue Rinsers 33 seats, Labour 19, Independents 3, and Ramsgate First 1. If I were to clutch at straws, I suppose at least it gives us a bit of continuity. Continuity of incompetence and foul mouthed abuse, that is.

I see my arch nemesis, Dr Biggles, has polled the highest number of votes in Westgate-on-Sea. Congratulations Councillor Dr Biggles. Or would that be Dr Councillor Biggles? Protocol was never my forté.

I wonder if it's too late to have the stitches removed from that vein?

I was a liberal, until it became an issue to have a leader who enjoyed a drink.

Unfortunately the young people of Thanet are not turning out to vote that is why the usual suspects get re-elected - we need some younger candidates - people under 30 are not going to vote for all the usual old fogies - only old fogies do that

That's true, anonymous. Anyone fancy voting for me next time? I'm good looking, rich, and still only 29.

What's more, Sausage Man, I do like a frequent tipple, so you could vote for me too!

So what price Biggles making an early attempt to oust Sandy Beach as Thanets no 1 citizien?

I think the odds on that are very short indeed. If I was Our Sandy I'd be wearing my CelebProtect Kevlar stab vest 24/7.

Let us also not forget that Lord Simes promised to reveal why the existing Tory candidate was deselected to make room for his ascension to the giddy heights of TDC.

Come on Doc, I think now's the time we should be told!

Sad day for Thanet it's really in the sh*t now.

This result is not surprising given Labour's shenanigans at a national level. Alleged cash for honours, Iraq, stealth taxes, home office bungles, rising interest rates, need I say more?

But I agree that Sandy's days are numbered. The ego has landed, and he's made no secret of the fact that he is not a Sandy man. I give it six months at the most before he makes his move.

Personally I'm glad to be spending more time in the garden.

There were a fair number of younger candidates there.

What is even more surprising, Ron ex-Councillor, is that despite all the points you have lodged against the Labour Government, Thanet Tories did not make many more gains than they did. It perhaps signals that notwithstanding the current, relative unpopularity of the Government, local people are equally singularly unimpressed by the Tory Party.

Also interesting that many seem to believe that the internal wrangling within the local Tory Party is set to continue with a leadership challenge in due course.

I'm sure now that Dr Moores is a bona fide councillor he'll bury the hatchet. Only question is whether it will be in the front or the back.

Eastcliff Richard - just love the blog - a small haven in a blue desert.

I personally can't understand how on earth Sandy Ezekiel managed to get re-elected. What else has he to do, it has been proved he tells the occasional untruth, he backs everything at any cost ie Turner Centre, Manston Airport and my personal unfavourite, Westwood Cross development. What will happen next....... will they make him Chairman of the council, whose tact will get Thanet noticed big time?

It would be a shame to lose our current chairman, Jeff Kirkpatrick, and his lovely wife, the internationally acclaimed gay icon and Dolly Parton impersonator Mandy Winters.

What an unforgiving and uncomplementary shower of prats you bloggers are. No wonder the Tory leadership ignore you - no policy, just bull***t. Come to think of it you are all exactly like David Cameron - all mouth no trousers. Closet Tories et al?

Richard Eastcliff said...

Not sure I understand your thinking there, anonymous. For starters, as bloggers, we don't really have policies, it's up to the politicians to come up with those. There are a couple of bloggers who are also politicians (one of each flavour), they presumably do have policies, perhaps you would prefer it if they were the only blogs in town? As for the Tory leadership ignoring us, I was under the impression they ignored everyone as a matter of course.

You're quite right about us being uncomplimentary, though. I apologise, and will henceforth be expressing nothing but unalloyed delight at the way the current administration has done such a superb job... of cocking things up.
