Turk Off

What a magnificent sight the Grand Turk made as she sailed out over a milky sea past the old cliff top mansion just now. Accompanied by the roar of cannons, and repeatedly dive-bombed by a couple of howling veteran planes, it was enough to bring a tear to my glass eye.

If the rumours are true that she's up for sale, we may never see her like in the Millionaires' Playground again. Sniff.

You could always put in a bid.
So when the old CTM gravitates beachwardand and becomes a WFM you can simply hop aboard Yo ho

Well apparently it takes 28 people to sail it, so if I did buy it I'd have ask Mr Ceaucescu (no relation) if he's got any friends of a nautical bent.

Does Romania have a navy?

If Switzerland can have one, I'd suppose anything is possible!

And in all the time the Grand Turk was here in Ramsgate, I'm so pleased that it survived our local resident arsonists, and didn't go the same way as the Cutty Sark (or Ramsgate library for that matter)!

You believe that The Cutty Sark, or The Sooty Carc. as it's now known, was torched by Thanetians, Vincer?
Now that you mention it, Ramsgate WAS hosting The Grand Turk at the time and I know how jealous and small minded that lot can be, from personal experience!

It would make a great floating pub, or we could use it to sail round the North Foreland and launch a surprise pirate raid on TDC's offices in Margate during the next full council meeting - what a great photo opportunity for Sandy Beach and his valiant bunch of scrutineers if he was forced to walk the plank or to eat his stuffed parrot.
