Top Thanet nudie Peter Checksfield writes:
The very lovely Rebecca at the Gazette has asked me to write something on Botany Bay & naturism in general as a follow-up to last week's article, & I thought it would be a good idea to include a few lines from Thanet's premier bloggers! I've also written to Tony Flaig.
Keep up the good work!
Well, a couple of points there. The obvious being, and I must say it sticks out like a sore whatsit, that there can only be one premier blogger on the island - moi! As for my response to the thorny question of nudism in Bottomy Bay (©2008 Richard Eastcliff), I responded thus:
I hold nothing against naturists. Indeed, I frequently follow the lead of a prominent Bee Gee lookalike airline exec and attend board meetings wearing only a skimpy night garment, so that my massive tool can occasionally slip out and intimidate my less well-endowed fellow board members.
I can see no reason why some nudity shouldn't be allowed in Botany Bay. My only objection would be that Palm Bay would surely be preferable as the name quite appropriately describes what the wrinkly old duffers on the council would be doing as they peer through their binoculars.
Let's see if the Gazunder prints that! Right, I must dash now as I have a lunch appointment in town with my old newsreading chum Sandy Gusset.

SOrry ECR, you can't copyright the Bottomy Bay tagline - it was first thought of about 40 years ago by some witty sub editor at the former East Kent Times newspaper. Being based in the Millionaire's Playground, this late lamented local organ would have been a hard copy predecessor to your very own august organ!
I hope Thanet's nudists dont follow those in Brighton. The council there built up a 3 metre high sand dune so the public can only see if you make an effort. And what do some of the nudist do? They proudly stand on top of the dunes!. Its get nudism a bad name.
Lets face it your cheap and chearful, popular. but so is the sun star and daily sport
So are sausages.
And pies.
And chips (on the shoulder).
This is an ideal opportunity for everyone to get behind the campaign... against Peter's right to whip out his wrinkly old todger on one of our finest beaches.
After all it would count as an amenity for him just as my right to live in Ramsgate without planes flying over my head at night counts as an amenity for me.
If he is prepared to come out against night flights then I may change my mind and come out in favour of him coming out on Botany Bay.
I am not Smeg. I am a Ramsgate businessman in fact and not without influence. For example your boss Steve Davies and I went to school with each other. Get my drift?
I find your attitude to the airport seriously moronic Peter. I shall be using all my contacts to make sure you have to cover your no doubt shriveled goolies up on every beach in Thanet.
You know what Peter? Stuff you and your nudist beach - why the hell should I support your right to get yer kit off when you won't support our right to a peaceful existence.
And Rebecca, having Peter call you 'very lovely' is cause for concern: he'll be broaching the subject of your 'hidden talents' before you know it.
Your brain is clearly as free of cells as your acomoclitic genitals are of hair Peter.
So, Ramsgate Resident, are you saying that you went to school with a boss of the Winter Gardens ?
And you are not without influence ?
Excellent.
Can you ask the winter gardens to relock after the Kent Police carry out their bomb checks prior to Royal Marines concerts etc ?
What is moronic is to unlock every cupboard for the police explosives sniffer dog to check out ... and then to leave the Winter Gardens with public access and evry nook and crannie still unlocked.
Perhaps he missed the day at school they tried to teach competence and common sense.
Get my drift ?
Uh oh, SMEG is starting to get a bit sneaky with his different facade's!
:)))? Is that a reference to your three chins Peter or your saggy ball bag which you evidently want to share with the whole of Thanet?
Tbh Pete, I don't really see the problem.
I mean if you don't want to se nudity, then you dont have to go into that area, just like if you don't want to see drunken yobs, you dont go into the own centre's on a weekend evening. It's not like you guys are going to be running all along the coast line flapping your dangly bits about now is it??
Pete, you have the perfect face for radio.
3.57pm, I only ever post as me, not anon.
Pete, your twists on whats been said, and general existance, are getting annoying.
I said - Dole on sea - unwelcome. Multi occupancy houses used as such would be better served put back to family homes.
I dont think anyone will argue with either of those comments.
And if you don't like aircraft then avoid Ramsgate.
My God Peter. Your almost as excited about being in the media as Moores.
Over on Thanet Death he writes,"Computer Weekly have picked-up on the Thanet council ICT strategy".
I'm sure they just 'happened' to read an article in a backwater local when their one time, man of the year happens to be the local expert.
Between the two of you; you should have the news to yourselves.
Booooring..................
Whats wrong with Peter using Margate's mains sands and wandering naked up the high steet, nobody else is there except BBC folk and people doing in-depths for the broadsheets! As long as he and his friend put their hands in their pockets its fine by me.
Did I say that out loud?
Pete, wrong. Not worth explaining into your thick skull so well leave it at that.
I hope you get your wish with the nudie beach. The decent folk of Thanet will know where to avoid to avoid you and those that want to kick sand in your face in will know where to find you also.
If it was anyone else pushing for a nudist beach, I'd support it. But peter checksfields?
His website makes his whole "it's natural" argument questionable.
Anon 5.52 you may not know this but Computer Weekly has only a circulation of 108,000 and is probably the most 'binned before read' paper in the country. Normally addressed to company addresses and most of the addresses have moved on or in the current climate have been moved on. I doubt whether 50,000 actually read it. Just as well the 109,000 includes digital version otherwise what a waste of trees.
this is not just about Peter, over the last 5 years i have seen alot of naturists use the beach, if there were signs confirming that this may be the case then that should be welcomed by all.
Calm down everyone it's only a blog.
I think you will find Doc Moores was only the runner up Computer Weekly Personality of the Year 5:52. He came second to a rather witty FireWire cable if memory serves.
Shrivelled 'goolies' I can grasp, Peter, particularly if exposed to too much UV but what on earth is Ramsgate Resident at 1.27 talking about with 'acomoclitic'? Keep up the move for a nudist beach; why do we have so many hang-ups in this country about nakedness?
If the Councillors get their kit off, I wonder who would have, and be, the biggest prick. The latter would enable the females to enter, so no bias.
It doesn't seem to matter whether a place is "designated nudist" or not. I was taking a nice stroll at Foreness on the clifftop the other day and stepped over to the cliffedge to get an eyeful...of scenery that is, and instead was treated (if that's the word) to an eyeful of some geezer with full gear out sunbathing in the grass! Quite unexpected.
There should be more Botany Bay (both cllrs & nudists) on BBC South-East news at lunchtime today!
how does Peter (post 11.07) fit his head in the doors he mans?
What a cunt.
yes you are 4.54, no need for obsenities!!!
I am not against nudism at all but I've got to say Botany Bay is not an ideal location. I am a resident of Palm Bay and many times I have seen young children looking over the cliff tops only to find out that some naked man is quite blatently lying in a position that gives him maximum exposure to anyone looking down from the cliff tops. This is not the only concern I have. Quite a few times the PCSO's have been called over to the beach because of some lurid acts that have been witnessed. I myself, whilst jogging, witnessed two distressed young girls (about 10 years of age) run from the beach because some man was naked and masturbating. I had to walk them home and this incident was reported to the police. For the life of me I cannot understand why nudism has not been banned from this beach. I mean, there's even a childrens school just above this beach. Surely, this is reason enough to enforce a ban.
