Nice Chopper

I see our flying doctor/councillor has been getting all gooey-eyed over local squillionaire Ken Wills' super-duper helicopter. The Doc drools:

A big Augusta 109, the airborne equivalent of a Bentley, owned and flown by Thanet businessman, Ken Wills. When the Chinese delegation arrive in a month or so to look at the site of the proposed China Gateway at the Manston business park I'm sure they will get a very comfortable 'birds-eye' view of Thanet in the process.

So much more newsworthy than the council-sponsored uglification of Broadstairs, eh Doc?

Presumably a helicopter will be the closest the Chinese will get to Margate high street and Cliftonville. Where are they putting them up? The Nayland Rock? hahaha!

Hasn't Ken Wills just donated £25,000 to the Labour Party?

Will the Chinese insist on censoring our press and internet like they do in China? If so Biggles and co could be just the people they are looking for.

Ye Gads, he isn't an Honorary DC as well is he? Biggles of the Yard! Is there anything that the mighty Biggles hasn't done?

Putting up envious comments about another man's chopper!

Biggles must be bored. But, there is a fence in the background if you look carefully! Biggles missed that one when he published the picture!

If they see Margate High St's desperate state, and the newly installed libary. The Chinese will be leaving on the next available plane...thinking what a waste of time coming here if this is best TDC can do.Anyway would they find anywhere to park in Mill carpark?

Couldn't you two just swap phone numbers? Unless there's only one of you, in which case give me a ring.

I could be way off the mark but is Ken wills the man who owned the Margate 'flat iron' building? and was featured in very touching Paul Ross program shown about three years ago highlighting the wonderful work certain Thanet businessmen had done, was he the chap who said he may have trod on a few toes to get where he had... like i say genuinely i could be way off the mark but this is a pub conversation that needs putting to bed.

Come on chaps, this sort of inane, self-important, saying-nothing-about-nothing, waffling spout is the kind of thing that ruins decent conversation and makes blogs dull and boring for everyone else!
If you really must carry on pontificating your desperately irrelevant points at eachother, please, please swap phone numbers.

The offer to ring me still stands, but going on what I've read so far, it may be quite a short conversation!

Er, are you sure you're not Uncle Spam?

Just trying to help (it's my job y'know).
If these two carry on, I'll end up working 12hr days with the flood of calls that would surely ensue!

Great blog! Keep up the good work!

And that would be 'Auntie' Spam, surely.

This from Human Rights Watch: "foreign journalists, including British journalists, continue to be routinely harassed, detained and intimidated by Chinese government officials, security forces and plainclothes thugs who appear to operate at official behest. Meanwhile, Chinese journalists and foreign correspondents, researchers, and translators and assistants continue to risk potentially vicious reprisals from state agencies for reporting that does not conform with the dictates of the official propaganda system."

They should find themselves at home in Thanet then!

Anyone fancy getting down there and demonstrating when the Chinese delegation arrives?
