Concrete Progress

Strolling along the front this afternoon, I was stopped in my tracks by the startling sight of actual real work being carried out to repair our long-crumbling East Cliff. The 'temporary' Heras fencing (995 days and counting) has been repositioned to block off the entire cliff top:

And scaffolding now graces the cliff face:

Three cheers (Surely 'three years'? - Ed.) for Thanet District Council!

Interesting - does blocking off the clifftop mean the problem is worse than they at first thought - which would not surprise me in the least, Join me for a candlelit vigil on the 1000th day soon, anyone?

But did you read about the fact that when the new flats/whatever are built on the Pleasurama site then a lot of this work will be wasted? I think I read that on a comment here anyway.

Then again I wouldn't hold my breath on the Pleasurama development as it's been about a decade waiting for something to happen to that.

So it's safe for a bloody great digger to stand at the cliff top but not for us? Are they trying to say something about the weight of the average Ramsgatonian?

As a bloody great digger myself I wouldn't risk going anywhere near it.

Mmmm, fat aussie bloke...sounds nice!

To be fair it's only a small digger.

The Councils always do alot of repairs at this time of year as they need to spend last year's budget before the new financial year, or they face a reduced budget.
