ECR you are a genius.

I assume that you did not wade through 300 pages of TDC evidential drivel yet still came up with the most entertaining blog on the Sandy subject.

Of course not forgetting to mention his yot.

Thanet political leadership is like its drinking water. Needs sorting out .....

Ah - so you were the person sitting behind Sandy with the voice recorder last week.

It would be funny...if we hadn't elected him to office. Come to think of it, it wasn't us was it? It was the people of Cliftonville. Presumably, they are proud of their choice?

Not guilty guv! (Anon 5:15pm)

A minority of the registered electors in Cliftonville East ward voted for the carpet seller. We in Cliftonville West are innocent!

So it's the Tory party's fault? They appointed him as Leader and they haven't had the guts to change that decision.

Believe it or not the councillor who got the most votes of all the Councillors was Wise if you look at all the votes cast in 1997Wonder what will happen next time?
The 3 ward councillors for Cliftonville east all deserve each other Wise, Sullivan and our leader.

Why the fuck do these tossers get voted in? he's a complete twat and needs to fuck back off to his carpet shop.

The country is in turmoil because Gordon Brown is an incompetent fool, and he won't stand down. My brother has just lost his job and i am probably next. You guys are so twisted and one sided that you can't be real. and you seem to know a lot about the detail, which shows you must all be labour councillors or wannabe councillors. I wonder what your electors would think if they knew you were writing this rubbish?

Ahh

10:50 we are not sunshine! You must accept this and move on.

Labour councillors? Do you seriously believe Labour councillors, or any Thanet councillors for that matter, are witty or intelligent enough to write this? I am sorry to hear about your work predicament but maybe you should spend less time finding scapegoats to blame and more time looking for more secure employment.

Typical answer from someone trying to gloss over the realities, which you are masters of. You blame the council for everything, but when I blame the government you run away. Case proved.

Blame blame blame. The way of the loser I'm afraid my friend. I am merely pointing out the obvious, namely that the council are incompetent and unfit for purpose. I would be happy to label them thus regardless of whether they were blue, red, green or yellow. Unlike you, however, I do not hold them or the government responsible for my personal circumstances which is why I'm a winner and you will remain at the bottom of the heap.

It's got nothing to do with Labour versus Tory. They're all as incompetent as one another. However, it's worse than that. Parties work by having one or two people who make all of the decisions. They have thugs who bully everyone else into following the party line. It's all dressed up as part of pour democratic system but there's nothing democratic about it. We need Councillors who are prepared to stand up for the interests of their constituents. We can't have this if some gonk from Cliftonville or Newington tells them which way they should vote. In fact, there's no point in having 54 Councillors is there? We might as well just have the two or three who are deciding everything. What is really required is for political parties to be banned from running Councils. I appreciate that this is never going to happen. Doris at number 39 has voted Labour all her life and will continue to do so, even if the candidate is an axe murderer.

What we are leading up to is an elected mayor and then we might get some strong good upright character running our towns ....perhaps that is a dream too far!
Why does this easterly part attract all the worst types - always has done i'm afraid - i only came here under sufferance before you asked if that includes me!

Bit of a bummer, though, if Ezekiel was the Tory candidate for Mayor. And every likelihood of that, given his colleagues' apparent continuing support for him.

That's sort of why I was saying it's never going to happen. The political parties have a stranglehold on democracy and they are killing it. Most people can't be bothered any more; that's why they don't vote for any of them. Turnouts are appalling. Councillors who run around saying that they have been democratically elected sometimes have the votes of less than 15% of the eligible voters in their constituency. In the case of Rugman he then gets appointed Leader of his party and gets to make decisions which affect vast numbers of people who never voted for him. It's a version of democracy, but it's getting close to the point where it is just a clusterf*ck, and we're on the receiving end. We need the vast army of non-voters to get motivated and help us to do something about this. I'm not in favour of compulsory voting but I would suggest the following measures to boost turnout:
A £10 discount on your Council tax if you vote.
Blacking out all TV channels and shutting all shops whilst elections are taking place.
Including a box at the bottom of the form to allow voters to vote for none of the above.
If the candidates cannot, between all of them, raise more votes than "none-of-the-above" they should all be obliged to stand down and voting should take place again with a fresh set of candidates.

If a bunch of vb swigging ex-convicts, who watch grown men running around in cap sleeved t shirts and hot pants, umpired by butchers and call this sport, can manage compulsary voting, so can the master race that sent them to the sunny side of the world in the first place.
