Right! I've created an inventory of the remaining contents of my Tesco bag. Here we go:
1. Paper clip
2. Receipt for Tesco boxer shorts (3 pairs) (XL)
3. Thanet Council press release detailing visit to China last November
4. Small ball of fluff
5. Itinerary for TDC visit to China with handwritten amends
6. Email from CGP confirming reservations at Intercontinental Hotel Hong Kong
7. Three grains of washing powder
8. Board minutes dated 19 Nov 2007 with handwritten amends
9. Handwritten draft letter to Chairman Hao of Chinamex
10. Small piece of cheese
11. Draft letter to Chairman Hao with handwritten amends
12. Letter on TDC headed paper to Chairman Hao from our Sandy
13. Quotes for 'Shogun' or 'primo' carpets from local carpet shop
14. Twelve grains of sand
15. Action points for 'Manston project'
16. Memorandum of Understanding dated 24 September 2007 between the People and Government of Baotou City and TDC stating the former 'has agreed to provide mining resource and bring the mining industry enterprises from its region to the Thanet Area or nearby area' and 'agree to inspire a joint venture between the enterprises which are involved in all aspects of rare earth' etc etc
Phew! Quite what all the fuss is about, lord knows! Hang on, there's another bag over there...

what no letter purporting to come from CGP thanking Sandy and Co for not running up a big bar bill and emptying the mini bar in the hotel room and keeping expenses to the minimum ?
Or maybe thats in the other bag.
Er, I was coming to that...
What has Backbone Bill of Cliftonville got to say on this matter.
Rumour has it that item 13 is a done deal in the region of four figures I believe. I wonder how many local carpet shops were asked to quote.
I have been trying to find a chinese proverb that sums up the whole situation, something the chinese would understand how their partnership with TDC is going. The best I can come up with so far is the advice "Do not remove a fly from a friends forehead with a hatchet" Something TDC seem to have ignored.
There is a lot of wisdom in chinese proverbs. ECR you are a man of the world do you of know any more suitable.
He who walk through airport door sideways going to Bangkok.
Tens of thousands of bones will become ashes when one general achieves his fame.
A sly rabbit will have three openings to its den
Alms given openly will be rewarded in secret.
Before dinner, let us explore the southern plains and climb the northern mountains. After dinner, there are snakes in the southern plains and tiger in the northern mountains.
Er, a bird in the hand is not worth as much as its nest?
Can I take it everything is now out of the bag?
What about the cat?
The best Chinese proverb I have found is (and I didn't make this up)
Of all the stratagems, to know when to quit is the best
....4 cans of white lightning cider....
To condone the fool is to purchase his folly
Even monkeys fall from trees
It butters no parsnips when you slip on a leek
beware the man with tesco bag ... for he may be a grass-shopper
just a flying visit
I say, is that to hide that larger packet for item no 2? Just thought I would ask.
For Chinese sayings, read "whats in your shorts"?
I prefer a Vietnamese Dong.
Some Chinese proverbs for TDC councilllors to appreciate
A fall into the ditch makes you wiser
These should be particularly helpful for those planning the CGP
Distant water won't help to put out a fire close at hand
How can you put out a fire in a cartload of firewood with only a cup of water
Thanet councillors would do well to remember that:-
There are always ears on the other side of the wall
An ant can destroy a whole dam
I may be confused here? But I thought that the Council announced that they're jolly was paid by Chinamex!
If CGP paid for it, then they are lying! Simple as that!
If there is any statement to the effect that CGP paid and the matter should be kept quiet; then is this not bordering on fraud!
Perhaps the serious fraud squad should also be having a dig around this sorry mess!
Richard, please! Show some respect, "our Sandy" indeed! You mean Our Dear Leader surely.
(With apologies to Kim Jong Il - he doesn't pretend to consult the peasants)
