No News Is No News

Yawn. Apart from helping out the Gazunder's intrepid young reporter Thom Morris by answering a few questions just now, I can safely say today is as dull as it gets. Does anybody know of anything interesting going on? Or do I have to resort to rummaging around in that Tesco bag again?

"I can safely today as dull as it gets" - did you forget something here? 'say' or 'report' perhaps?

No, just too bored to type.

Anyway, what are you, a proofreader or something? Get out there and bring me some news!!!!!

Perhaps you could find out the format for the full council meeting on September 11th as my e-mails to date have elicited no response.

Will there be speakers from the public or will it just be councillors droning on?

Otherwise, I can't think of anything to brighten your mood except the sun is now shining.

You could run the Margate tortiose story!

A TORTOISE called Fred had a lucky escape from being crushed by 500 bags of rubbish when he accidentally ended up in the back of a bin lorry.
What I want to know is did Thanet council charge her for bringing it back from the Canterbury landfill?

Rumour has it that
a. TDC cannot arrange a site visit for all its councillors to look at the problems of Manston Business Park (aka a third of a Gateway)in regard to its own policies on protecting water supplies etc, before asking them to make a vital planning decision on our behalf. (Thoughts of 'p**s up in Brewery ' come to mind).

b.Quite a few councillors, Labour, Independent and Tory, are not happy that TDC wants to rush this application along so quickly to Full Council on Thu 11th September. Everyone knows its being rushed by who and for whom.

Good things are worth waiting for; so lets hope commonsense and rational thinking will prevail over last week's panicky knee-jerk response to a surprise outcome at Planning Committee and that the business is dealt with in October.

I think I need to face up to the fact that I've lost my news mojo!

We do have the doors guitar tab book you could borrow that if you need to get it rising.

There is a FOI request in post to TDC re TDC and Environment Agency investigation of solvent contamination of chalk from chemicals stored at sericol in the1990s. Asking whether there was contamination of water table. What sort of solvent, that sort of thing (Conductive, water absorbent etc)

Also asking whether the quantity of chemical missing from storage was calculated from the company's stock records and whether Environment Agency equated this to the contamination quantity. Why this chemical contamination information was not circulated in detail to councillors.

Also asking whether the site maintenance man responsible for prevention and detection of hazardous leaks was a tory councillor.

Usual stuff ECR ... Yawn.

Usual stuff ECR. Yawn.

Michael's blog has a link to a news story about Nuclear Plod.

Radiating good will in the Dover area.

Cows' milk from the Dungeness area was tested by said plod.

"Radiation seems to have increased your yield" said the inspector to a local cow.

"Indeed" said the cow "I can produce a Churn ow Bill"

I had heard the wages tale, so it is flying around, i want to know what has happened to the yawning yacht tale --- perhaps it was too boring - smudger referred to it as Shagpile which i thought was rather apt.

More news on HMS Shagpile coming soon I hear.

Anonymous said...

I thought it was called Bakanda not Shagpile?

Anonymous said...

Nah, all the details of our glorious shagpile provider's yacht are on Wikipedia here

Dear Mr Eastcliff,

I am interested in origami and have always wondered how to make a boat out of a brown envelope. Do you know anyone who could point me in the right direction?

Yours sincerely,

Roger the cabin boy

Annon 5:16, if you did a cash in hand job for someone and found that every banknote they paid you had staple holes would you be a teeeny weeeny bit suspicious.

You mean that nothing is happening in Thanet? Wot, no regeneration? Wake up man. Can you not see all of the progress being made around you. Look at the Turner Centre...well, no. Don't look at the Turner Centre. There's not actually anything to look at yet. Still, they've only spent £17 million so far. You can't expect to see foundations until the figure is much higher. Look at the fabulous development on Ramsgate seafront...No? On second thoughts, don't look at that either. It's only been ten years since it burned down. Bit soon to expect concrete progress. How about the incredible leisure facilities in this seaside Mecca? Sorry, my assistant is telling me there's nothing to look at there either. Ah, but the pubs. What? You mean they are all closing as well? Never mind. Get yourself down to the shonk's garage. They have a wonderful collection of photographs showing what Thanet looked like when the people who lived there actually cared. They can't care now or they wouldn't be allowing successive Councils to spend vast amounts of their money doing absolutely nothing. Care to comment, Ken?

Well done with the detective work, we also know that it was bought from Athens and then moved to South France but then the trail goes cold ....

Obviously your mojo is up again.

Annon, 5:16 the "wages tall is not flying around" as you put it. Just a patient observer taking a back seat.
I must say you were very quick off the mark to come up with that conclusion, considering very little people know that.
How's Gordon getting on?
