Blogs Have Ears

Ahem. It's come to my attention that the, er, authorities have been crawling over my blog. I'm not at liberty to go into details, although I can confirm it's not connected with a certain Tesco bag. Quite why these people have nothing better to do than peruse this drivel, lord only knows. But there you go.

It's not the first time Thanet bloggers have provoked harassment in recent months. Clearly it gives the lie to Lovely Rebecca's editorial in last week's Gazunder when she wrote: 'If bloggers impede the work of rightly-respected people with mindless scandal-mongering, people will quickly stop reading what they write.' It seems that the contrary is the case, as the more mindless scandal mongering I put up here, the more it seems to get rightly, or perhaps wrongly, respected people's attention.

Meanwhile, don't have nightmares as I've taken one or two, um, precautions. Right, I'm off to buy a pair of sunglasses and a false beard!

Apparantly some people's employers have also been crawling the local blogs.

Or so I'm told.

Well let them all crawl/trawl,etc. I don't think I have written anything I would not want any to read, otherwise why would I have posted it?

My stuff tends to be a bit racier than yours though, Ken!

New policy - all comments from (p)Rick get deleted. End of.

Really mate, you are an irresponsible, muddle-headed tosspot!

Flattery!

Please don't let it deter you though.

Lets practice this, "Yeah but no but yeah but no...It was not me it was some skinheads". Sounds convincing enough?

Racier yes richard, but I do have this problem, I have to be circumspect,(no not circumcised). other wise I loose my huge allowance as chair of planning (ok the equivalent of£2.50 per hour)

YYYESSSSS!!!! : )))

Now if only other blogs would do the same.

Yes but Ken, it's not the 'Official allowances' that people are getting excited about!

It would appear that there is a lot of interest in what was in those bags!! And who'se names are being flagged up for interest!

As for the Gazunder editors comments, well she needs to get people to read her rubbish somehow, so slag off the bloggers!

Funny though, how all the scandle in Thanet appears on the blogs first, and then eventually gets in the Tory Gazunder.

Editors can argue that if it's on the blogs it's in the public domain so all they're doing is bringing it to a wider audience then they don't get sued!!

Sound advice there from Thanet's legal eagle Lionel Hutz.

Actually repeating a libel is still, er, libellous. But it wouldn't surprise me if some of the local rags weren't quite up to speed on their basic law for journalists.

Does make you wonder - probably you are getting too near the truth for comfort - that's why they are getting hot under the collar - if you weren't getting warm they wouldn't bother with your blog would they?

I wasn't suggesting libel gets repeated but factual stuff on a blog can be included in the press. let's face it, half the time it seems the media is later than the blogs with the news.

I would not mind people reading my blog it's the idea that they have the power to go after my email and therefore some local people who feed me information. Some of my sources are far to frightened to speak up anymore and don't need people going after them for the crime of tipping off a local pundit or two. I feel a strong need to protect all my sources even the ones with political agendas.
