Nayland Cock

This just in from the, er, nudes desk of Peter Checksfield, our man with the towel (and not much else) in Bottomy Bay. Apparently he's been contacted by someone who purports to represent the Nayland Rock Hotel in Margate, demanding the removal of images from his in-the-nud photo site Naked in Thanet that were shot in front of the aforementioned establishment. Peter's correspondent charmingly adds:

Please keep your minging tarts away from my property or I shall chuck seriously cold water over the lot of you – including you as the head perv of the sad band! Get a job!

Peter initially treated the email with the utter contempt it deserves, but has since received a follow-up message in which the, er, clearly liberated writer demands a £10,000 donation to a breast cancer charity for continued use of the photos, and threatens: '24 hours should be long enough, or I shall litigate.'

Really! And there was me thinking these kind of nutty, repressed Victorian values only existed in Westgate these days. Sadly it appears I was wrong. So in the spirit of mediation I shall be dispatching a complete set of piano leg covers over to Margate with my compliments forthwith!

At first I suspected he was just a crank, but now I'm convinced he's just a crank who has something to do with The Nayland Rock Hotel!

Put "Nayland Rock Hotel" into Google Images & my pics are the first things you'll see (which may be the reason he's upset, despite the images being online for 3 years)...surely a GOOD thing for the fading Margate hotel trade & tourism in general... ; )

How funny! And what a plonker. I think they look rather pretty. Far better than the dodgy handwritten sign for teas and coffees currently clinging to his railings. Surely a line of people with T-E-A- etc on their buttocks would bring in far more tourists?

nobody cares about the subjects you choose.

What a daft person. As far as I can tell there is nothing illegal here. It would be extremely hard to prove that the hotel's reputation - if it has one these days- had been undermined by your photos. Keep them on your website I say!

5.25= And no one cares about your stupid comments.

Anon 5:25pm - I do hope you haven't crawled out from under that comatose, 'popular but beseiged', starched knickers blog over on the north side to taunt us. Was it the mention of Westgate that got your proverbial? And just when we were all getting along so nicely without you!

Anonymous said...

c'mon then 5.25 give us the benefit of your infinite wisdom - what are the subjects people care about?

Anonymous said...

Well I know a subject he should care about Bully boy tory joined at the hip

Brilliant! Great to see a bit of glamour around a the Rock.

I'm not amused by your suggestion that we in Westgate on Sea have repressed Victorian values. Only the other day whilst taking the evening air I saw a lady beneath a gas lantern with a fine trim ankle and an inviting smile, pronounced by her pouting red lips. She wore heavy mascara and eye shadow and was sucking a Gitanes and exhaling against the chill of the evening air, GRRRRRRRR I must go forthwith to cleanse the streets, get me my cane, cloak and hat.

Well of course, anyone who can make a statement like 'nobody cares about the subjects you choose', must, by default, be...
A) Rather ignorant of all the comments being made by these 'nobodies' that don't care.
B) Dense enough to be unaware that they're paying credence to these subjects, themselves.
C) A bit of a twat, in my book.

Though I must say, Peter, that the council are actively trying to discourage 'tomb stoning' at the mo, so you're probably better off sticking with the hotels and such.

Good point Lucy! : )

I sent the Nayland Rock guy an e-mail with a link to this blog (no reply), & a journalist from The Gazette is trying to find out whether this guy really represents The Nayland Rock Hotel...

Richard Eastcliff said...

Yes, of course we must bear in mind that this chap might just be a crank, and in fact have nothing to do with the NRH. Which is why I said in my item that he 'purported' to represent them.

I await the result of the Gazunder's investigation with bated breath!

while there at it can that awful concrete fence be removed and for the love of god stop hand painting "teas and coffees" on the hideous hideous fence, get a nice sign made, its not rocket science mate... used to look lovely.

Lucy Mail said...

So who are you going to send in to find out if the Gazzette journalist actually represents the truth?
It'll only phone the hotel and ask (if it gets an answer on the first try), which you could easily do, yourself.

Peter C said...

I'm not going to phone them (if they're serious about legal action then it's best that I have no direct contact), but someone else is welcome to:

Nayland Rock Hotel
Margate

Tel Number: 01843 299992

And here's the email address of the guy who sent me those messages:

Have you tried google yet for "Steve Disleris-Beck", you may be supprised. also try www.192.com and enter a town of margate. If you pay the fee you can get an exact address but www.tracesmart is cheaper at £3.99 but you need to cancel afer 10 days or they take the fee again.

Good idea about the google...apparantly he's something to do with The Canterbury Independent Traders Association" (which makes me suspect he's genuine):

If anyone contacts the Nayland Rock Hotel please let us know their response.

I know this name of Steve Disleris Beck. He was and may still be part of Canterbury Web Services, who host several web sites for well known local companies. A quick Google should turn them up easily enough.

I think Steve lives in Margate in the Westbrook area. As far as I know he has nothing to do with NRH.

Look at your photo again. You wouldn't know it was Nayland Rock Hotel by looking at the picture. If he thinks it's defamatory in any way, he is barking mad.

The last time the Gazunder did a report on this establishment, the called it the Nail and Rock!!

They can't get the name right, let alone the story!

Peter C said...

Thanks anon 12:49, I wonder if in fact he lives in one of the apartments adjacent to the hotel (part of the same original building but not now part of The Nayland Rock Hotel)? I'm not 100% sure that the photos I took WERE part of the hotel or whether they were of their neighbours.

I agree that the hotel (or their neighbours) isn't too easily recogisable in the pics, but I'm guessing his issue is as much to do with the fact that my site is ranked so high in "Nayland Rock Hotel" search engines, so that people looking for info easily see my pics.

Anyway, I've another model who's keen to pose nude there in the near future, so watch THAT space...

Peter C said...

Annd (in case you're unaware) I took more than one pic outside the NRH. Here's a direct link to all the one's I've posted on my website (so far):

I think Peter should ECR to Thanet . sorry Honk Kong Earth when its in full production for some shots in natural light amoungst the toms and cues and see if they send him an email.

Anonymous said...

Great idea - the Thanet Earth Watery Tomato Factory was on the telly yet again this evening its attracting more attention than the Turnip ever will. It would surely attract national attention to see some of Peter's models posing in front of the glasshouses!

Peter C said...

I'll, erm, "bare" that in mind... ; )

This NRH story is interesting. Even Roger Gale has views on the NRH which I thing was only posted on 21st June. So either go to rogergale.com and click on the NRH article under his views or the lazy way enter roger gale nayland rock hotel into google. I wounder if the email is from a roger gale supporter or the other way round?

Peter C said...

Here's the article, though personally I don't think there's any connection between the two:

Incidentally I like Roger alot. Not only is he always extremely polite & courteous to all the staff at the place I work (The Winter Gardens), but he's also been a BIG help to me on a personal level with advice & letters.

Good luck Peter! Your models certainly brighten up Margate, which is something that the councils have failed to do for years.

Yuor photos at least show Thanet in a positive light! Rather than get in a two and eight about it, they should hire you for promoting Thanet!

Peter C said...

Thank you...& if only!

OI!
That's quite enough Westgate bashing, ECR!

Sorry Grandad!

As for Sir Roger Wind, just about everyone on the island seems to think he's a nice old buffer, even those who don't agree with his hang 'em and flog 'em politics. Strange that his CV lists a stint on 60s pirate station Radio Caroline and editorship of Radio 4's Today Programme as past employment. Hardly breeding grounds for right wing politics, you'd think.
