Old Lamps For Old

Good to see Kent Highways' contractors out yesterday installing the new, long-awaited 'heritage' lamps along Wellington Crescent. Of course, we had ours changed along Victoria Parade a year ago.

There's something rather odd about these 'new' lamps though.

They're not actually new. They're just the old lamps with new tops and a couple of fancy bits from B&Q bunged on them.

Presumably someone will come along and paint them black at some point, so they at least look half convincing, but I won't be holding my breath. Honestly, what a cheap trick!

victorian fencing?

Yes, it does rather feel as if it's been there since 1893.

If those are heritage lampposts I'll eat my hat - recycled odds and ends from the council tip more likely - what with those and the fence Wellington Crescent may well end up as a TDC - good ideas gone wrong graveyard!

Well they know it's all going to collapse onto the Pleasurama site anyway, so why not put all the junk there?

A spot of journalistic licence there I fancy. That was the only defective one and it will be replaced ASAP
Have you thought of subbing out to Pierced Organ and his motley crew of tabloid sleaze balls?

Pierced Organ is no friend of mine, anonymous!

However it is true that I do occasionally indulge in a spot of the old 'never let the truth get in the way of a good story'. Not on this occasion, though, as these were just two of the tarted up posts I saw. I have some more photos if you'd like to come up to my boudoir.

If anyone gets fed-up gazing in rapture at ramsgate's new illuminations they can always go and get a cuppa at the tollgate kiosk nearby. Good to see this local amenity open again even if the lift isn't.

Went to have a look today - why has only one of the lamps got a puny little cross bar thing on it?
