Ramsgate Gets Cruise Thumbs Up

Well, it shouldn't just be Dover that gets the big boys in, should it? So I was delighted to see that Ramsgate gets a guernsey on a new cruising website. In fact the trendy East Cliff comes in for particular praise, with our quaint holiday cottages and park attracting globe-trotting chicken fanciers, it seems:

From Ramsgate Harbour, head up the cliff towards the Granville cinema and follow road to the end. You will come to the park. Cruising goes on in the park (there is a cottage there) and on cliff top. Best to park off the main road up side turnings.

Hours: Park Cottage when Park is open. The rest early evening as light falls and as long as you are prepared to hang around.

Cruising Info/Tips: Other than getting your cock out and waving at someone, just make eye contact and head for the park or bottom prom to shelters.

Cruisiest Spots: On path/steps going down to beach and in shelters halfway and at the bottom. There is also a brick built shelter on the top of the cliff where action takes place facing the sea.

Wheelchair Accessible: No.

Warnings: Straights and dog walkers do use this area to go down to the beach so just be sensible. Don't assume everyone is looking for cock as some do and have caused a few problems with some locals but on the whole I always have a great time here.

Even Ramsgate Harbour makes it into the guide! I must tell my old showbiz chum Tom Cruise!

Oh trust you ECR!
Funny as it it, I actually believed that something good might be happening for Ramsgate.

Eeeuuuwwww! I'm not doing anymore naked photography down there, might run into all sorts of sleazy charactors!

I do too, 12:57! The pink pound's as good as any other in my book, as long as it's all done in the best possible taste!

As for 'sleazy charactors' Pedro, some people might say the same about Margate birds getting their pierced nips and tattoed flanges out for your photos!

Taking a little trip to Narnia there, Peewee?
You spend far too much time in that closet!

The pink pound is a considerable help to my bookshop and I am quite certain which side I would have been on in the Wilde v Queensbury Trial, glad to say it isn’t two years hard labour, both for book buyer and author anymore.

A few pictures of this area at the bottom of this page http://www.michaelsbookshop.com/610/id29.htm and Richard I tries to access the pages for Broadstairs and Margate for comparison, but couldn’t, any ideas?

It seems there they don't have specific entries for Broadstairs and Margate, Michael. Perhaps it's members only? You can click on the numbered sites on the Google map though. Love this for Westwood Cross:

Nice, clean, discreet fun. No real cleaners either so no annoyances. No CCTV and no guards - easy and safe fun! Lots of young guys go here, and can get lots of young cock, really nice boys too.

I'm not in the least bit homophobic, but why do so many benders get such a thrill in picking people up in toilets? Lesbians don't do that, do they?

Richard Eastcliff said...

I was about to say, our considerable contingent of lesbians doesn't appear to be catered for on the web.

Perhaps the Ramsgate Muffia prefer to keep things within their own circle.

"I'm not in the least bit homophobic"... so why then use the term "benders"? Methinks you delude yourself.

Sorry Richard I had assumed that it was something that I had done wrong, I have now joined under the username of, Pond Cottage Books, here is the info on Margate http://www.cruisinggays.com/Default.aspx?CityID=8192&City=Margate and Broadstairs http://www.cruisinggays.com/Default.aspx?CityID=7511&City=Broadstairs

"I'm not homophobic but I hate benders" is in the same class as "I'm not racist but I hate Pakis". Go boil your cock.

Who wrote that they "hate" benders? I must've missed that. All I wrote was that I don't understand why they have to use toilets.

To introduce a bit of seriousness into this exchange - probably not what ECR intended, but...

I would agree with you Anon of "bender" fame that cruising parks and especially toilets for sex is seedy and hardly wholesome. The reason it happens - and still happens despite there now being gay dating and chat sites, and more gay bars than in the past - is because many gay men still feel unable to be "out and proud" about their sexuality. I am a gay man and am fortunate that I can be, and am.

It isn't because they are all shrinking violets. Despite the changes in Law that the last Government introduced - delivering almost complete equality for gay men and women with others in society - social attitudes have some way to catch up. Gay men still get beaten up and killed just for being gay, and family hostility can be as strident as anything faced "on the street". This forces many still to look for companionship and sexual activity covertly. I am not defending it, just explaining it.

It is why events such as Thanet Pride are still hugely important and why we need to look to those in positions of community leadership to show that leadership and condemn acts of homophobia and general hostility. Sadly not something we see very much from (mostly old-school Tory) politicians locally.

For some, just as with straights, sex in the open air is a thrill and something done very positively. They are in a whole different category.

I agree with you 4:26 (& those who insist that homophobia is virtually none-existent should try walking into just about any pub or club whilst holding hands with another man).

ascu75 aka Don said...

4:26 I agree with everything you say and would like to point out domestic violence is often behind closed doors and endured by people because it is inflicted by someone they 'love'

Couldn't agree more 4:26. How many heteros round here enjoy the 'sport' of dogging? It's the same difference. Live and let live.

Peter Checksfield said...

I've never even seen dogging but I'm sure anything's better than football!

Lucy Mail said...

Proclamations of disgust at the thought of men making love? You don't like football and hold mens' hands when you go into a pub or club?

Quite a mixed bag of feelings there, Peeper.

Someone told me once that homosexuality is hereditary, but I don't see how it possibly can be!

Peter Checksfield said...

My first comment was a joke that obviously went over your pretty little head Lucy.

I am openly bi-sexual, though generally prefer women to men. OK?

Lucy Mail said...

Beats me! Ask God?
I'm afraid that I don't care, I just find you preposterously funny. :-)

Peter Checksfield said...

So do I! : )

Hi Lucy any chance of giving you a baby shower? You're gorgeous!

Anonymous said...

Or a golden shower?

Lucy Mail said...

You're right, I am gorgeous!
Though you can keep your baby shower, as I have no need for nappies and the like.
I'm also quite happy with my white shower and am not a big fan of bling.

Lmao, i'm with you 9.42! haha
