Thanet Council - An Apology

Thanet District Council has apologised for the inconvenience and distress it has caused the island and its inhabitants over the past 36 years.

In a statement issued to mark the anniversary of its formation in 1974, the authority formally admitted that it had got just about everything wrong and would consequently be turning itself in to the European Court of Human Rights.

The announcement follows widespread national coverage of the council's ineptitude over the years. From 'dole-by-the-sea' in the 80s and 90s, to scandals involving senior council members, the authority has become a byword for incompetence and corruption. Planning disasters such as Westwood Cross, Dreamland and Pleasurama have blighted the isle for decades.

Cllr. Roger Latchford, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, said: 'This is fantastic news for Thanet. We are delighted that, by admitting our mistakes and handing ourselves in to the police, the island can now move forward into the green and pleasant uplands of social, economic and environmental progress.'

The cruelest joke is that TDC was indeed formed on 1 April 1974.

Can we ad planning disasters like all the social housing and the ASB of its residents that blights Cliftonville's once peaceful and clean seafront to the list of their confessions but shock horror ... this sin is to continue. How many councillors are landlords in Cliftonville I wonder??

I knew this was an April Fool when I looked up TDC's motto:

"Nunquam persolvo nunquam rumex"

Never explain and never say sorry.

We would have been more likely to fall for a April fool story said that Sandy and Roger were attested on suspicion of mugging an ill old lady and going through her bag as a result of thinking she had some information in it proving how punchdrunk and incompetent they are....

Or a prank story about how it turns out that a certain mealy mouthed tory tosser has a fake pilots' license, which he bought from some discredited backwater American institution - the sort of place that even suicide bombers don't want to train at because it's so shit.

Or a story that some stupid twat of a councillor was caught by builders abusing his cat.....oh wait...
