With all Nick Clegg's talk of a 'huge election' this morning, he must be hoping for a well hung parliament. Meanwhile Our Gordon Master's got on the fast train to go shopping with the missus in Kent.
As the proprietor of one of the most influential organs in the country, from now on I'm legally obliged to report the election in a fair and balanced way. So as I haven't yet mentioned the bum-faced Etonian, I'll leave you with this. Whatever you do, for f*ck sake don't vote Tory!*
*Although personally I will be voting for the lovely Laura Sandys as I didn't much care for Dr Steve Ladybloke calling me a liar during that Eurof*****s debacle last year!

If you are going to make a statement like that howabout explaining why? I despair of all political parties and keep my views mostly to myself but I dont see the need to degrade any of them publicly.
Laura Sandys has done more to sort out many individuals and local groups problems with the local council than any elected politician. We have a conservative council which is rubbish in my opinion but the party does not make the person. People often need to vote for whoever is right for their area sometimes overall polital views need to be pushed aside.
Anon, 1:31 PM Laura is very nice but she bats for the wrong side, so to speak.
I'm afraid the Tories locally have put me off voting for the Conservatives nationally. You only have to look at the likes of Ezekiel and Latchford to know just what the real Tory party is like beneath the new, cuddly-duddly mask.
But there again, I probably will vote for Laura as she seems quite nice and hasn't personally abused me. Yet. (Everyone does eventually - even now there's probably a Thanet Tory typing the word 'paedophile' into this comments section.)
There's just one factor to consider in this election - Money. Many MP's have helped themselves to it so if you believe in taking what you can get regardless of others you will have no problem with this or any local MP that has been on the take. And according to the local Thanet "I'll pay your parking fine" doctor/councillor, for every man, woman and child in Thanet, the Government pays out at least £7,500. Who in their right mind would risk Thanet loosing that kind of money with a change of government?
Unfortunately TDC as reps of the conservative party do them NO good. I hate TDC and will happily say I voted Labour locally but Conservative nationally. I truly believe national party politics are often irrelevant at a local level. The only councillor I have met locally that seems to say what he means to me personally is Martin Wise and he is totally disgusted with the behaviour of many of his so called colleagues.
They are the masters of say what they think you want to hear .. the cliftonville west ward mess is the biggest evidence of that.
Is there any real difference between the parties? Same Shit Different Day.
I find myself voting for the person/party least likely to f**k things up.
Vote for someone who had 23 goes before she found a constituency prepared to take her on and then they mistakenly thought she was related to Winston Churchill when she isn't?
This is the candidate who led in Folkestone until she had to speak and they then dropped her like the proverbial hot spud.
Even some local Tories say she's too light-weight but when did that ever stop a political candidate getting elected?
I love Laura as a person. I can remember he when I was a child, she was a couple of years older than me but I remember her sitting excitedly on the lap of disgraced Tory / UKIP MP Jonathon Aitken, before it was proved that he is an adulter, liar, perjurer and mixed up in shady Saudi dealings.
She does come from a strong political family and therefore has a pedigree, but then again so do retarded, slavering inbred dogs. It doesn't make them any good or sharp, quite the contrary in fact.
I'm not saying she looks like a dog, she is good at applying make up and has her hair styled every week, I'll give her that. She knows that there are an awful lot of sexually desparate old f*ckwits among the neurotic lower middle class Daily Mail / Thanet Gazette readers of this area. These people no doubt are delusional enough to believe they are of her kind because they've made a few quid setting crap.
But is a pompous, jolly hockey stick, nice but dim public school girl with a rich daddy the best person to poltically lead one of the most impoverished and deprived areas in the UK? No.
It strikes me as rather 'let them eat cake' and if she gets in I would be absolutely flabbergasted if she ever spends time with the people of Thanet - except of course having afternoon tea with the odd dried up old hotel owner or sucking up to London commuters. I doubt she even mixes with salt of the earth working class tossers like Sandy.
So Anonymous reckons Laura Sandys is light-weight, whatever that means. Well, having heard the good lady speak on several occasions now, she comes over well, with sincerity and without the usual spin and fudge one associates with politicians. She seems to have a fair range of life experiences, rather than the degree in political studies and little else, and she is untarnished by the sleaze associated with the present crop in Westminster. Seem pretty fair qualities to me.
As to her standing in her own party, well our current MP cannot be too highly thought of by his having won and retained a formerly safe Tory seat, been a minister then sacked by Gordon and then he is not even offered a safer berth now the boundary changes tip Thanet South a bit bluer.
I would be rather peeved if I was him.
Ukip or bnp. Send all the foreigners home. The country is full and then there will be jobs for all!!!!!!!!!
Oh dear! We have a real class war campaigner in the real Rebecca. All the usual silver spoon rubbish and dismissing decent ordinary local folk as lower middle class f**kwits. What a sad twisted person you must be and as for associating sex with voting preferences one wonders how you get your kicks. Please don't bother to tell us for I can imagine.
having met Laura to discuss the airport, her main thrust for supporting it was to "help create jobs for the third generation unemployed" in the area, then went off on one about creating a "green isle". Play both sides, however contradictory - a politician in the making.
I'd suggest if the "third generation unemployed" are waiting for the airport to bring work to their doorstep, they might make it to a fourth or fifth generation.
Has any local politician pointed the thousands of unemployed in the area to the Olympic site at stratford (1 hr 15 mins away, Central London (via St Pancras or Liverpool Street in about 1 hr 20 mins)or Ebbsfleet (1 hr) for work? Canterbury? Ashford? Medway/ I'd quite like one of the two main parties to point out the cold, hard, reality that a silver bullet to fix all the employment problems here in Thanet is not going to come overnight.
what, get on your bike and find work 8.45pm? Thats not the Thanet way.....
Sit on your arse and find social services is the done thing in these parts
It took a little longer than I thought, but thar she blows!
Although it looks more like someone pulling my not insubstantial plonker.
I know Laura well, her family and mine have been friends for donkeys years, and I've been really close to her at times, she can be quite a laugh given the right inebrient.
Don't get me wrong about what I said about her being wrong for Thanet. I love her to bits, but she doesn't have any more of clue about real people than that slimy, well-oiled but untested and already malfunctioning PR robot Cameron has.
But it's well known that poor, uneducated regions like to vote Tories. It's a sad fact of life that you seem to need surplus money and brain cells to feel confident enough to take a risk and vote something interesting like liberals, greens or socialists.
ECR I would remove the comment by the tory who called you a paedo if I were you. Mud sticks. This is like the start of what the scientologists do when they want to discredit a sharp critic of them. Next thing will be someone sends you kiddie prn and then you get the knock on the door.
Right yer are RR. Next thing you know they'll be calling me a Scientologist!
You might want to replace that bit of mine, where I refer to a suggestion that you are a paedo, which has now been removed. Please replace that bit of my post with an extract from The Wasteland.
April is the cruelest month....etc.
On the front of the Extra this morning is the good news story of "The One Show" coming to Margate. They could have gone anywhere, but they came here. So what does our Mick, Mayor and Mr Margate say about our town, the town that his party is pouring money into to regenerate, revitalise and get back on the map??? "We're aware that Margate isn't looking as good as it could be at the moment"!!!!
Thanks for that Mr Margate, thanks for the words of support when some of us are working our b******S off trying to build up a business, spending our money, not tax payers, but our money, on improving our area, money that we could have taken anywhere else to invest, but we chose here!!
Thanks for your support in bringing awareness to the area by poncing about in a red robe and feathered hat. Thank you for taking the time to walk about the town and actually meet the people that you are supposed to represent as the Mayor. Thank you for making my day when I read the paper this morning, making me wonder what is the bloody point when people like you who are supposed to encourage people like me to come into the area to invest and develope make utterly crass thoughtless comments like that. No doubt it was a throwaway comment, one made without thought, but one that has made an impact.
When I first came to the area, I was impressed by the drive and determination of the now to be former leader, to improve Thanet. Is this indicative of the new leadership that people like you can say things like this??
Can we have a vote on who is Mayor?? We need a town ambassador, not a town clown!!!
So Annoyed in Thanet votes for the party least likely to f**k things up. Well I suppose that is one vote Gordon won't be getting being the biggest f**ker upper of all time.
As someone who's just moved to Cliftonville I'm baffled by all the "Kosoville"/send the forriners home comments I keep seeing and hearing.
As far as I can see, the Kestrel-quaffing, burgling masses are 100% English. Or 80% English, 20% White Lightning anyway.
anon again!
16% base interest rate, petrol 50p a litre more, 50p on a pint, Council Tax (a Tory invention) up 25%, cancel free bus passes for pensioners, and 5,000,000 unemployed..... if you want all this, VOTE CONSERVATIVE!
It's what happened last time they were in Government. Labour is still sorting out that mess.
I wonder why labour are wasting their money posting flyers for Ladyman to a multiple block of flats in Margate which comes under the entirely wrong ward he is fighting for .. wasting money and paper!!!!
ECR = Scientologist!
12.46 Large parts of Margate are now in S. Thanet as the constituency includes both Cliftonville wards. Cliftonville West covers Dane Road, Grotto Hill and that area.
Cliftonville East, Cllr. Ezekiel's ward, includes Palm Bay and is now S. Thanet.
Yes Con MP. Me, Tom Cruise, John Travolta and all my other showbiz chums.
Only another few hundred grand and I should be 'going clear'!
To the anonymous listing of all good things under Labour let us add:
Flogging our gold at the boot fair!
Starting illegal wars!
Failing to equip our troops!
Opening the immigration floodgates!
No more boom and bust,he!he!
Deputy PM roggering the staff!
PM who has temper tantrums!
Removing the 10p tax band from the poorest taxpayers!
Decimation of local democracy!
The nanny state!
CCTV, identity cards and dustbin microchips!
So, if you want a free bus pass on Animal Farm, you know who to vote for - and the best off luck for I'm off to Canada!
The Rock, I thionk you will find that Thanet has done rather well in grants from this govenment and its not just the £8.5 mill for the Turner. You should check the others that have gained from SEEDA grants like the Thanet Press, just the odd £236,000 for them. The list goes on, Sea Change programme another £200,000, Dreamland grants of a few mill. East Kent is also benifitting from the billions spent on HS1. Then there is the Building Schools for the Future program, funded by Labour, replacing all those decaying secondary schools, all of them.
With Thanet having serious health issues you are also benifitting from big cuts in NHS waiting times.
For the last year I thought I would vote conservative, but I am quite enchanted by Labour clinging to this idea that they can keep printing money to spend our way out of the financial crisis. The housing market seems to have stabilised in terms of price with absolutely no justification and nothing has changed that dramatically other than sterling dropping. I figure let the good times roll, I am sure Darling will be able to cap the deficit with some random increased on alcohol duty, providing he doesn't back out of all of them when they prove too unpopular. Mind you I wish Tony Woodley would run, I could do with a pay increase and two hour working week,
If you are trying to garner support for Labour, I can only suggest you don't bring up the the words £8.5 million and turner contemporary in the same sentence.
Whoever thinks Martin Wise is independant and speaks his mind about things must know a different man? He is Sandy's side kick, in place of Sandy the lazy bob's instead? invisible in his ward and when he does appear at PACT meetings he says dog wardens no longer exist? And he is meant to be in charge of the TDC budgets? A traditional tory voter myself, NOTHING would induce me to vote Conservative locally for a repeat of the current make up of TDC , independant maybe? I am interested that one blogger alludes that Laura was responsible for Ezekiel's removal? Lets hope she casts the net further next time, but how can she when they are her electioneering power?
Sadly as the core election messages are to be about the economy and education it seems unlikely that most real people of Thanet will have any interest in the issues. This is because: 1) few are employed enough to have any dealings with tax (there is no tax on heroin and cocaine)
2) The have little money so economics seems meaningless
3) There is little interest here in education
If politicians want to attract the attention of the people of thanet they should say they will buy tracksuits and KFC for people who have numerous ugly kids or subsidise daily visits to amusement arcades and offer free chips to anyone who looks retared and has greasy skin and hair.
Can we just get one thing straight about all this money the Labour government is supposed to have given us, it is our money in the first place. Governments don't have any money (well except when they print it themselves for which we would do time)so they levy taxes which are then used to pay for services. Trouble is Labour governments seem to think their Labour heartlands should have a bigger share of the pot.
As for Real Rebecca, well you really do have a pretty jaundiced view of the good people of Thanet. Sounds a bit like a superiority complex and those have a nasty tendency to implode.
I hear what dozens of the people of thanet have to say every day and they are, without exception, the most poorly educated and more idiotic scummers I have ever had to listen to.
I went to a redbrick university and have a profession that most people envy, it's hardly a superiority complex as I'm clearly superior
Er, I think you'll find I'm superiorest in every respect!
anon again!
Ha Ha @ 7.47 P.M. & 10.26 P.M.
I must agree about the scumminess of the General Thanet Public, and would like to apply to become the 3rd most Superior Thanetian.
I shudder when I see them on the news (Irvine Drive BBC tonight) it
makes me feel physically sick.
I lived abroad for many years (over 30) then returned to Thanet looking forward to a pleasant retirement. I am still waiting for some pleasantitudes to take place.
0.07, I feel your pain. It must have been like being put into suspended animation for hundreds of years, thinking you would be reanimated to find a beuatiful, utopean world where people wear shin silver jackets and have sex with beautiful cyborgs and travel in high speed invisible helicopters, only to find yourself waking in a dystopean hell populated by the most grim looking and sounding people to have ever be dragged from the evolutionary swamp.
Sometimes I think we should have just left these people growing their cabbages and doing nothing else.
ECR, you are a medium sized fish in a little bowl. I'm a bigger fish in a much bigger bowl. When I get in this bowl bad things happen
Ahh ECR! am just a nobdy out for a cheap laugh, but am glad your humour could stoop to my level! :)
Righto Bec. Just be sure that your head doesn't get too big for your bowl, or it might get stuck in it.
I have grown fond of The Real Rebecca who sounds just like those bustling pompous conservatives of yesteryear. And yet does nothing but harangue Ms Sandys whilst maintaining that they have been splendid friends.
I can't dispute her well thought out description of the delightful indigenous thanetarians either. Perhaps in the words of of that lovely film king, we need to breed them out.
You too tricky dicky.
I'm glad you find the time to do this blog but don't forget that it's a big world out there. I'm don't know how old you are but maybe there is time for you to train as a real journalist and do something with you life.
Thanks for the career advice RR, but I find most of my time is taken up spongeing off the welfare and grinding my political axe.
Thank you Malapoop,
you are right I did grow up in the company of those pompous old school tories. Many are the times as a teenager that I had to tolerate slavering and disgusting people, as ugly as Roger Gale and Latchford, as I served canapes as tedius garden parties.
Sometimes they used to stay at one of my parents houses when they were too drunk to drive back to London. As a young teenage getting up for a glass of water in the night, wearing just a skimpy t-shirt, I would bump into them stumbling around. Sometimes I just couldn't be bothered to fight them off. Afterwards they used to offer to give me things, which made me feel like a dirty, cheap prostitute. A certain cabinet member did help me get into university though after I fucked up my A-levels because I was always so stoned, so in a way it was all good.
Luckily the party wasn't so damaged back in the 80s and early 90s that they had to have scummers like Sandy in local politics. I doubt my parents would have let someone like him come over to clean the chimneys or lay carpets, let alone as a house guest.
Having read so many comments and just an ordinary thanet resident I am totally horrified by comments and language. I am fortunate to have had a good education, worked for most of my life till illness took over. I have a husband who spent most of his life in the middle ranks of HM forces and now has a 13hr day communting to London and he works very hard for a not exceptional salary. If the purpose of people like this "Rebecca" are just to deride the ordinary people like us then heaven help society and no wonder we are in a mess. I will not be missed as I have never before witten on this blog but neither will I miss what seem to be such narrow minded ignorant viewpoints from a person such as this Rebecca character who I personally feel is sick.
It's called irony 4:14.
Anon 4.14: what does what your husband dues or how he gets to work have to do with anything?
There are quite a few people in Thanet who believe themselves to be middle class because they work in an office. The fact is though that to be a genuine member of the middle class one must be a recognised professional. This doesn't mean administrator, salesperson, shop keeper or call centre twat.
Most office jobs aren't professional jobs and therefore most office workers are not middle class. Compared the the unemployed and sick benefit scummers we have to tolerate here they may feel professional but they aren't professionals.
The problem associated with the self-delusion of these wannabbes arises when these idiots read the Daily Mail, buy houses, get their front garden tarmaced to get another car or two in and vote tory, assuming the party gives a fuck about them.
As I've suggested, the point is that the tory party wouldn't piss on the pretend middle class working class office drones if they were on fire. Anyone who reads the Daily Mail or Express is very unlikely to be a genuine middle class person but a deluded working class scummer with a mortgage and a car or two.
It actually saddens me but also makes me laugh that these sort of scummers feel alligned to the tory party, a party where almost everyone in the cabinet is an etonian. I expect Laura Sandys is more likely to want to spend time listening to the cabinet sodomise, felate and and rim one another than spend time with Daily Mail reading office functionaries from Thanet droning on and trying to rim her.
Hope this helps
leave her alone - the less comments the less chance for rebecca to drivel or indeed in her case dribble!!!!
Shit it you bunch of anon nobodies. You wonder why this area is so shit but even a blog is full of people who are too thick and insecure to use their own name. Unless you just don't know how to register, in which case I apologise...and you are even more retarded than I suspected and you should just carry in with your pointless little lives in Thanet and keep ponsing off the taxpayer.
But I suspect what's making you feel upset is the realisation that those tories whom you like to give rim jobs too couldn't care if you life or die. You are parasites feeding off the broader society and the likes of Laura are parasites feeding off you. You are expendable, however, as there has never been any shortage of scummers with delusions
Perhaps, in that case, the Real Rebecca will use their own name?
Quite. I'm getting rather bored of 'her' rantings now, so this thread is officially closed.
