Let The Train Take The Strain

Ramsgate has been acclaimed as one of the five most improved train stations in the country by the Campaign for Better Transport (formerly Transport 2000). The report highlights facilities for cyclists, improved access for buses, and sympathetic treatment of the Grade II listed building.

Splendid! Now all we need is those bullet trains and we've got ourselves our own little slice of St. Pancras!

I still think we should have a station that is actually in Ramsgate town centre - and I've found the perfect location - under the East Cliff on the site of the former Pleasurama building!!

Well, has anyone researched yet whether the relevant Railway Act has been repealed? If not I'm sure I'd be perfectly within my rights to knock down the Titanic (my bon mot for the new Pleasurama development) and reinstate Ramsgate Sands Station. It would be ever so handy for the old cliff top mansion!

I think the last thing we need is more traffic pulled onto Ramsgate seafront. You just know that no-one would take a bus there. Public transport isn't in the Thanet psyche.

btw, thats a damn similar photo to this one.

It's certainly in my psyche! Not all of us drive cars. Railway Act may be a new angle for Michael to pursue though?

I think he's already thunk of it.

And the improvement for those that can't cope with the many stairs is?

Well as far as I can recall a lift has been installed to get to and from the subway, but I couldn't swear that there are lifts from the subway to and from the platforms. Hmmm.

There are lifts from subway to platform too which work most of the time - a vast improvement on the old goods lift which nearly dislocated your shoulder when you tried to open the door.

Well that's good news. All it needs now is something to mask the smell down there.

What about Eau de Painter?
