Crumbs! It's amazing what you can find trawling through back issues of Adscene! Here's Sandy Beach, just before the 2007 local elections, handing over the keys of Ramsgate's West Cliff Hall (or 'Motor Museum' in old money) with the front page headline: New Life For Motor Museum! According to Sandy, the god-botherers in the picture were going to renovate the building and install a juice bar, cream teas, rock school and pie factory.
That was more than two years ago now. And I haven't noticed anything other than weeds going up at the place. Oh well, the photo served its purpose I suppose - Sandy got re-elected. That's the main thing, eh?

I can recall Roger Latchford speaking to a large crowd in The Winter Gardens & announcing to cheers that "Dreamland is returning!". That was also in 2007...
Roger Gale did not dish out a striping over his expenses.
What he did was show that when he thinks he has answers waiting he will first make an issue about what he sees as the impertinence of being questioned.
Which is eloquent information when he does not object to being questioned and elects silence.
It was an old police trick. Find out how a man reacts to questions when he is innocent. Then see how he reacts when you suspect he is not innocent.
So now we know that when Windy feels innocent he will gob off at the questioner before answering.
To other questions he maintains a silence
So well done ECR bit of the old George Dixon in you at some point ?
So Mr Gale
When the Environment Agency briefed you and Dr Ladyman re the poor quality of Thanet water (if you remember the matter is being addressed as a result of FOI applications made by me .. not either of the two caring MPs).
Would you tell us Mr Gale if this was the first you knew about Thor and Sericol contamination of the aquifer ?
Logically if you did not know you ain't got your finger on the pulse and if you did know why did you keep quiet about it and do nothing ?
Oh do shut your cakehole, 1:45pm!
ECR, you can't delete me for what I said. Well, you can actually, and you did, but I protest.
You've got to admit that when you go to the left you lose the spark. You're so far ahead of the rest it probably doesn't matter but with my editor's hat on I thought I'd remind you that you should always seem to be leading the pack, not be part of it.
your friend of 1.45
Pip pip.
A big chunk of the render on the front recently fall off adn landed on the flat roof below. Its in dreadful state.
The sooner the council sell it off the better.Whatever it becomes it'll be better off out of their hands. I'd even be happy with Thorley's taking over. Better than nothing.
I seem to recall somewhere (get digging, ECR) that it turned out that it's not the council's to sell.
I have a vague recollection that the council didn't actually own it.
Anyone remember the details?
'When you go to the left you lose the spark'? How could this item possible be construed as 'going to the left', 3:40pm? I'd be saying the same thing if it had been Clive Hart, the Labour hair apparent, handing over the keys two years ago for a cheap mugshot on the front of a local paper.
As for the rest of the story, 4:44pm, Sandy was quickly nixed by TDC's Chief Exec who told him in no uncertain terms that he had no right to be 'handing over the keys'. Since when the WC Hall has been on the council's list of assets for sale. So far, no bidders.
So it's ezey Kill getting his face in the paper with another load of lies.
When will the people of Thanet realise that their Council leader is a self serving liar, who would not understand civic duty if it slapped him in the face!
I think they do realise, 1:34am.
Unfortunately, changing something takes a bit more than realisation.
Suggestions?
Ironic that since getting elected all Sandy has done is close things down - toilets, museums, etc etc
This would be a great location for a Wetherspoons pub.
To: Anonymous 4.44pm
Unless anything has changed in the last couple of years, then *yes* TDC do own Westcliff hall.
Its part of a single freehold parcel of land(s) that includes: Westcliff Hall, parts of Westcliff promenade, the lawns in front of Royal Crescent, screaming alley, and the freehold (reversion) of a few of the buildings in Royal Crescent.
Quess Sandy Beach will taking credit at the opening of the new morrisons in Margate. Morrisons have spent a fortune on repairing the car park shame the council did not enforce Somerfield to do the same. Morrisons will find that during the week there will not be sufficient parking for their customers, as Council workers with their free permits will take up most of the lower deck!
