Let's Go Fly A Kite

Don't forget it's the Big Sky Kite Festival over in the Arsonist's Playground this weekend. Last year it was held at Palm Bay, but this year it's shifted to Margate beach so in theory there should be a lot more to do other than watch kites oh who am I kidding? Unfortunately there's not a lot of wind about at the moment. At least not here on the south side, unless you count the hot air emanating from a certain cliff top mansion on the East Cliff.

Any-old-how, you could top the weekend off by catching Chas'n'Dave in concert at the Mike and Bernie Winter Gardens tomorrow night. Sorted!

Spent the whole of saturday over on Margate beach - weather fantastic, kites great fun and there were plenty of stalls and rides - a good family day out enjoyed by a large appreciative crowd - hope the kites come back here again next year. There was even a free kite workshop funded by TDC - and the kites we made actually flew!! Well done to all who organised the event and those who took part - it's still on tomorrow if you missed it today.

I liked the big kite panda. Well done all those involved, good large crowd on both days and brilliant for some of the local traders, hope the kite flying visitors from overseas and Brighton were made to feel welcome.

Went at the tail end - 4.30ish on sunday - good atmosphere, shame noisy fairground rides, any excuse and they shut the road for a fairground but was glad it was still going on late sunday pm. Well done lets hope more good things follow in Margate. Stopped on the way down and saw end of bandstand entertainment, the Chadbunds are the unsung heroes of Cliftonville, putting on entertainment there every summer, lets hope the council in their wisdom dont cut the grants for that!
One thing that detracts cycling/walking along the sea front is every shelter has human pee in it or loads of litter - anti social behaviour!

Thanks for your kind comments.
Free kite workshop was funded by Margate Town Partnership.
Not sure about the comment re noisy fairground rides since only one had music which to my mind was not at all loud.
Road has to be shut to keep public safe and to accommodate food, rides, stalls etc without whom we could not afford to put on events.
Agree about the Chadbands.
Its the public that use shelters as toilets not event organisers but do agree it needs sorting.
Glad you enjoyed Kite Festival.
Back next year 19th/20th Sept.
