Charity Begins At (Your Executive) Home

Yikes! Now I've heard it all! Presumably these people are the caring, sharing face of property development here on the Ile de Thanet. They've emailed me to say they're launching a new, fortnightly publication whose 'main aim is to help our local community by donating all of its profits to charities, good causes and redevelopment in the Thanet area.'

They've got 261 members on their Facebook site, and a sneaky peek at their website elicits the following:

The magazine is sponsored by Skyblu Studios Ltd (Who they? - Ed.) to help bring the best of what Thanet has to offer to its residents and tourist (sic) alike by supporting the ever growing changes and improvements going on around the community. We intented (sic) to support the redevelopment of the district and the many charity and non-profit organisations that help to make Thanet thrive.

They continue: Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. Mauris ut elit. Sed eu pede. Morbi quis ante a pede feugiat egestas. Etiam feugiat mi in pede. Aenean massa sem.

Oops! I guess that bit must still be, er, under construction. Oh well, Rome wasn't built in a day!

This looks like an April Fools Joke. Their website has only one page pushing one towards Facebook and what is with the Latin? I have forgotten most of the Latin I had to learn years ago! Has Gale been led down the garden path? Personally, I will avoid this dodgy looking set-up when it comes to advertising Thanet's G Conference.

Here is the translation from my handy quicktrans software. A snip at 50p from the bootsale last week.

Lorem itself pain he is amet consectetuer to come up to elit. Mauris when elit. But good pede. Sickness anyone before a pede feugiat to extreme poverty. As yet feugiat mi upon pede. Eneus massa prefix meaning half-.

So that's what their game is.

Er I don’t think this is Latin, it just looks like Latin, it could be a puzzle like;

CIVILE SI ERGO
FORTE LORIS INERO
DEMARNT LORIS
DEMIS TRUCX
VATIS INEM
ENSAM DUX

Which is solved by saying it out loud, but I’ve tried this and it don’t work. Oh well, nil porcupine sodomy est.

A WHOIS search on the domain name reveals it goes down to a person and address in Westgate. This could merely be the website designer or it might be someone involved in the company. The WHOIS also relates to company registration number: 6337107 as registrant, i.e....SkyBlu Studios Limited at the same address.

I don't know whether people are serious or not trying to translate the script but this is simply a method used by printers to put text into a space where 'real' words will eventually go so that they can construct the page! So much erudition, so little sense.

Thanks for spoiling the fun but you don't need to sound so pompous about it! So these guys at Thanet Developer really are as half-baked as Bertie has suggested.

It seems to have started off as all blogs end up.

A bunch of saddos all agreeing.

Sorry anonymouss I didn’t realise that we were supposed to be being serious and assumed everyone knew that it is a slightly adjusted version of the beginning of Cicero's De Finibus “Neque porro quisquam est qui dolorem ipsum quia dolor sit amet, consectetur, adipisci velit...” Which of course means “There is no one who loves pain for itself, who looks for it and wants to have it, just because it is pain….” Oh to be a painful saddo it’s just too painful

Nice to know you're all practising the lingo for Rutupiae's next "Open Day"

There were at least three mistakes on their home page - I wish people would proofread their websites. Creates a sloppy impression wouldn't you say?

A bunch of flashy triers?

Hi guys thank you for the comments.
The site for Thanet Developer is now finished (no longer a holding page), with exception to our vidcast (podcast)which will be going live in the next two weeks.
Hopefully we will see you in our forum section.

Kind Regards
