Bullet Train Bulletin

I see today's Observer is reporting that our new Japanese bullet trains are due in at Southampton docks any time soon. The super-duper, 140mph service will run from 2009, and cut the journey time from the Millionaires' Playground to London's newly revamped St Pancras down to just over an hour. Or just over an hour and 20 minutes if you're a Conservative.

Our train operator is quoted in the newspaper as saying that 'property prices are heading north' because of the new link. I presume that means that the price of a semi in Ramsgate will soon be so eye-watering that people might be forced to consider buying in Margate.

I hope it does better than that ER!
I have every intention of selling off me garden shed and moving to Kingsgate.

Perhaps not.... but certainly to a bijou residence near to your own palatial establishment. I promise to pick up behind the dogs..honest.

Due in at Southampton docks? Are they amphibious? Not a bad idea given the way our weather is going.

I doubt the new train service will make any significant saving in time for those who live in Thanet, probably the conservatives estimate of 1 hour and 20 minutes is as good as it would never get.

Unless old Ladyman's successor is about to dig deep, and spends money to upgrade the track from Ramsgate then that network rail and its operating companies will continue to transport the people of Thanet at an average speed of less than 60 miles an hour into our capital.

Long live the motor car.
