Blue Is The Colour

In the county council elections, that is. The duffers will be running the county for another four years. I'm off to open a vein.

Update: Green (LAB) and Kirby (CON) elected to KCC in Ramsgate. Biggest loser was the racist from the BNP, with Gerry O'Ramsgate second last.

Update: Ramsgate's teeny-tiny council has no single party in control. 7 CON, 7 LAB (including car-crushing councillor Dave Green, hurrah!), and two independents - Ralph 'Mr Ramsgate' Hoult and Gerry 'Ramsgate First' O'Donnell. Click here for full results.

Click here for KCC's results map. However it crashed under the strain this afternoon. Piss-ups, breweries, etc etc

Think I will join you in the vein opening department. "Abandon hope all who enter here"

Both Clive Hart and Thanet's Red Irish Rose are also out on their ear over in Cliftonville. Trebles all round.

I presume you mean treble hemlocks. What a disaster.

Anonymous said...

No, I mean trebles. Like the vast majority of other people I voted Tory and am delighted they won.

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhh!

You mean like the vast majority of nutters and senile old hasbeens in Thanet you voted Tory. When will you people learn? The Tories are wrecking Kent and they are wrecking Thanet. Granted, Labour are wrecking the nation, but that's for another election.

Very soon we'll have a blue Britain, a blue Kent and a blue Thanet. I couldn't be happier. And I'm not going to call you a nutter, or senile etc. Today's a great day, be happy.

Looks like the Blue Meanies are sweeping the boards. Will Kent continue as a Sea of Nothing. Will I find a hole in my pocket, will the vaccuum cleaner beast suck up the entire landscape turning it into concrete - I need answers!

Well I am not going to hold back. You clearly are a senile nutter if you think a blue nation will be a good thing.

Imagine a nation of Sandy 'fucking tosser' Ezekiels. It's enough to make your blood curdle.

And may I add that KCC's election server has now crashed. If that's an example of how the Tories run things, god help us all.

Just a passing thought - turning blue in the face is a symptom of choking to death.

Sadly Alan Poole, a very hard-working KCC councillor for Ramsgate lost his seat to John Kirby.

Partly this was a protest against that scottish twit, at least scottish Richard had the guts to stand down

As a lifelong Labour voter I prayed Gordon Brown would not become PM because I knew this would happen. He is not leadership material. Blair was a liar, but at least he did it with charisma. Unless Labour can pull a John Major out of the hat I am sad to say they are doomed.

Tories and Labour tied? Who will lead the new town Council? Well, Mr. Ramsgate (and I don't mean Gerry) had more votes than anyone else by some margin. It would be a travesty if he weren't elected to lead the new body.

By the way, did I hjear right when someone told me that Gerry had criticized Steve "new boy" Higgins for not living here for long enough. I remember when Gerry moved back to the area. It wasn't that long ago and he dodn't wait long before giving ewveryone the benefit of his wisdom about hos the area should be run. Sauce for the goose and all that. Suck it up, Gerry.

I didn't vote but if I had it would probably have been Tory as (with a couple of notable exceptions) they seem nicer people.

Anonymous said...

Nicer than what/who Cybermen, Pol Pot?

In Thanet if you put your rubbish out in a blue bin liner it would be probably returned as your new councillor.

More chance of that than it being collected and taken by the bin men

Tory mp's caught clearing wisteria, moats, with our money; tory kcc piss a minimum of £5,000,000 of our money down the drain; people still vote for them.

It's a shame there wasn't a 'no confidence in any of them' box. That candidate would have won by a landslide.

The Tories have made huge gains. That doesn't please me, personally, but that's democracy. What's happening to Labour happened to the Tories in 1997.

For those who are rejoicing in the "sea of blue", though, just ask yourself did Kent prosper - did Thanet prosper - during all those years when blue dominated at local county and national level. The overwhelming consensus is "no". The decline - in prosperity, service quality etc - started during those years.

So you might like the election result, but you are unlikely to benefit from it in any way.

With such a tiny opposition it gives Paul Carter and his crew carte blanche to waste even more of our money, to set up even more businesses to compete with existing ones run by local businessmen and to continue as developers of land jointly owned by KCC and TDC here in Thanet. EKO LLP to build houses on Eurokent looks likely to happen now and perhaps the planned development at Manston will be by EKO not CGP.

5.36 pm I am with you all the way, I don't vote labour myself, green all the way, but brown is not the colour! Do you think he will take notice of our suicide down here in Thanet?

As a Tory I think there are two types of facts in this 'everything's worse' argument that need to be said. The first is simply that for every bad stat there is a good one, that's how life works. And secondly, the fact is that more people voted Conservative than Labour this time.
It's been said before and I'll say it again, blogs are fun but bloggers take themselves too seriously at their peril. Ballot or blog? What's the best system for getting honest views?

Anonymous said...

The ballot box.

But if that stopped comment, debate and argument, where would the formal media be, let alone bloggers.

Anonymous said...

Only works mate (the ballot box) if you get over 50% of the vote.

Get a life we now have an elected DICTATORSHIP.

Indeed lording it over us, on 29%. Democracy - not in Kent or Thanet then?
