Reds Over Our Heads

If you're wondering what the noise is in the next few days, it'll be the Red Arrows! The RAF's display team are due to be using RAF Chas 'n' Dave Margate Manston Tracey Emin Kent London International Airport as a base for various air shows in the south east until Sunday (click here for more info).

If anyone gets a decent photo, you know where to send it!

Just like the good old days when the USAF was there and spent their money in Thanet.

Any ideas, as to why there was the Kent Constabulary's throbber hovering around at 2am this morning, ECR??

In my experience the copper in a chopper means only one thing: some spotty kid has been spotted with a water pistol and knacker of the yard has gone into full anti-terrorism, over-reaction mode. It costs a huge amount of money to put a whirlybird in the air for an hour. Let's hear the justification for last night's little escapade (aside from waking most of Ramsgate up).

OMG tho LOL NOB spotter aeroplanes (CWIDT) be like the copper chopper. WAIL.

The police helicopter scrambled in response to a UFO. It remained deployed tracking a strange circular illumination of the ground below it. ROFLMAOPML2

As long as local residents can cope with the noise. I was in Ramsgate last week and heard one plane all afternoon I was there. Then the other day in Birchington something shot over my house and the noise made me think something was crashing.

I dont think there is a problem with the activity at the moment. Its the all night all day scenario the owners keep on feeding us that scares ramsgate residents

Yes, yes and yes again, what was that chopper up to?

Richard I got some pictures linked to today’s post, not that good but you know where to look, feel free to help yourself.

The chopper was aloft as part of Operation Allotment Watch.

Arrows were over Birchington last week, thursday I think, then they are zooming in and out, back and fro to Eastbourne and another couple of places.
These amazing flyers are most welcome visitors to our Thanet skies. They add the neccessary colour to our otherwise boring skies.

....necessary colour to our boring skies? Have you bothered to stand on the beach at Margate and watch the sunset, you'll see plenty of colour.

Bluenote said...

Yes they do, for the moment, brighten our skies but beware the Defence Review, politician speak for swingeing cuts and reducing our armed forces to the level of those of Belgium. Perhaps that might be fair enough if our governments did not then embark on illegal wars and playing big shots on the world stage.

One would like to think that the Reds would be sacrosanct and excluded from cuts, along with the base at Scampton from which the Dambusters flew, but don't hold your breath on it. One would also like to think that the Tories might have more sense of tradition and history than Labour but, even that is no longer true.

Sad, for I used to think there was still hope for the old country but, even I have given up now. Politicians at all levels are in a world of their own, excluded from public opinion and, in any case, know better, even if they should happen to become aware of it by chance. After all, the silly public would bring back hanging and corporal punishment, end immigration and pull out of Europe. They would even punish villains appropriately, cane misbehaving kids in schools and have proper big coppers in helmets walking about the streets. Can't have that can we!

After all, we all love our multi-cultural, multi-racial, EU integrated, lawless, fast food stuffing, reality TV addicted and celebrity adoring society so much!! Who needs daredevils in little red planes or historic regiments or, even, law and order and decency? OMG I have flipped!

Welcome back BN

Enjoy Blue Note

Why did Jack Straw repeal the Unlawful Drilling Act 1819. Clue not to protect military fantasist members of the Thanet tory party though they may be breathing a sign of relief crouched in the shelters with Col Latchford and all the other tories.

Take it you are following the cause to gain Dr David Kelly a full inquest.

Retired, thanks for the welcome but, in case you had not noticed, it is a Tory led government that is threatening to cut our forces to the bone. Hardly sits with your military fantasist notion. Blair was the fantasist who embarked on an invasion as though we still had several division of troops supported by large naval and air forces. Not a small, politically decimated force already over stretched by existing commitments.

On Dr. Kelly, yes I would support a full inquiry and always have. Not only was it shameful the way this man was treated but, even more so, the way all attempts to get to the truth of his death have been suppressed.

Unlike you though, I do not see conspiring Tories behind every hedgerow, but politicians of all persuassions who seem to act in total disregard of the wishes of those who elect them. The old description of democracy has become 'government of the people, by politicians, for devious political purposes, despite the people.'

Retired, just had chance to look at your 'bodyguard training' clip though what it has to do with me I do not know. There are many of these organisations scattered around Europe with operatives almost world wide and, I guess, as long as there are people prepared to hire them they will continue. Not my scene having never been into cowboys or the quasi-military posing fraternity.

I see Bluenote hasn't become any less boring. I wish I knew whoi he was so I didn't inadvertently invite him to one of my parties.

I am able to see our Thanet sunset's most evenings, there are some really classic ones coming up as the sun moves more left on our horizon.
I try to photograph the more stunning ones, and have many gigabites of samples that will be
put on a website one day.

To reassure 10:16 AM, I would suggest that the chances of us being in the same social circle are about as great as those of having the same DNA. Hence you can continue to enjoy your parties.

Just posting this to ensure that Bluenob doesn't have the last word.
