Enormous Groyne Spotted On Ramsgate Beach

Well, I was wearing some pretty revealing shorts down there earlier!

No, seriously, I've never noticed this structure stretching out from the centre of our lovely Ramsgate Sands before. Anyone know what it is? (Apols for the grimy pic - click it to big it). I suppose it could just be seaweed from Margate harbour, dumped by The Duffers, who seem hellbent on superduperising the grimy north of the island at the expense of the splendid south.

By the way, it's nice to see the new lights illuminating the excellent Royal Harbour Brasserie at the end of the pier. Oh, and I didn't get the Louis Walsh job, if anyone was interested.

It is a collection of flints (another flint island as further to the north)shaped by the currents. Wait for the response from Ron though.

Anonymous said...

Yes it has always been there.

Ron? Da doo Ron Ron Ron?

ps the Manston Missive makes perfect night time readin zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

John Holyer said...

Thank you, I have often wondered how the flint got there.

I'm intrigued, who is 'Ron'?

Anonymous said...

Hilarious: Tory party membership down from 3M to less than 100k. We seem to have political parties that just aren't worth voting for or even joining.

Surely Ms Haire will improve Labour-UKIP's vote in Thanet though?

£5M for the new Ramsgate fire station and closing both the existing ones. Vanity project.

another kiosk car parked in the park again. Wish I'd got the reg number.

It is great for fossils, sea urchins embedded in flints.

Anonymous said...

And fossils embedded in the council topping up their pensions with failure...

Anonymous said...

So will you be fossil hunting at TDC then Anon 3.09 ?

Anonymous said...

Most certainly 4:29 here's a few fossils:

* Nicholson
* Gregory
* Wise
* that Dreamland solicitor bloke that fokked up the paperwork again

Can you think of a few more and/or some crooked fossils?

Anonymous said...

Ah an Urchin Ezekielae. Embedded by the proposal of Sunnasgotis Hayton.

And there a scroll of the unmistakable Script Cyrillic.

Anonymous said...

Everitt and Moores and Bayford are so crooked they can only scuttle along the seashore like crabs.

Not that they or MacGonigal have been fraudulent with public funds of course.

And they're under 70 so not old either.

Definitely not crooked old fossils.

Wise ?

Isn't he one of three tories accused of libel by former Cllr Margaret Mortlock ? Then for legal reasons only one of the three could answer the charge.

As far as I know one of the three volunteered to face the charge alone at the time he was promoted to Vice Chair of the North Thanet Tory Assn.

Bit embarrassing when the Vice Chair was duly found guilty of libel.

All in the fossil record

Anonymous said...

Nicholson ?

Well his history is current issue.

He was Chair of Standards when he proposed to full council to endorse Standards exempting Cllr Hayton from TDC standards jurisdiction.

Then it emerged the Standards Process had sat whilst an evidence file was concealed from it.

Now (this week !) Cllr Iris Johnston has asked TDC legal officer Harvey P if there is a duty on TDC to make crime complaint concerning TDC own process. (Conspiracy to pervert justice and concealing crime Criminal Law Act 1967 etc)

Harvey's expected version of legal advice is expected to be "Interesting".

Anonymous said...

That's enough fossils for now.

Anonymous said...

Who was the Vice Chair and who (if not the same person) opted to answer the charge?

Has Gale or Sandys or Hart or Latchford never spoken up about any crooked old fossils?

John Holyer said...

An anonymous is posting egregious libel.

Maybe he is seeking to close down this blog.

Anonymous said...

Wasn't Nicholson the head of the Airport Committee at one point- whatever happened to that and KIACC?

Anonymous said...

We're discussing fossils Old John. No libel at all.

Join in if you have something to contribute beyond scare tactics.

Anonymous said...

This is the email for the Airport Commission and Howard Davies reviewing Manston and Lydd etc:

airports.enquiries@airports.gsi.gov.uk

They'd be interested to hear about Mr Buchanan and his 20M passengers and monitoring and night flights or not.

Try not to use the words horseshot, bullshot or scombag in your email.

Wonder if the Manston fire crew will write in: jobs, jobs!!, jobs!!!

It's gone 5pm so maybe on Monday.

Anonymous said...

The only old fossil here is Holyer!

Don't sue me John or close this blog down - only joking you're not an old fossil!

You are an irrelevant old twot though! Joking again.

Anonymous said...

Airport Committee?

Nicholson, Harrison, Green, visionary woman not sure of anyone else? Meets every month unless they really can't make up any more excuses.

KIACC: Twyman - meets every month in private and then public in November? No minutes any more. Buchanan's puppets.
Latchford could be on it again.

5.03 Don't try to spook the blog author, he is fully aware that a statement cannot be defamatory if it is true.

Anonymous said...

It can be defamatory in the sense of insulting even if true ECR. It can't be defamatory in the sense of lying though.

A minor but important point. Not relevant to Holyer though who is merely trying to put the wind up your groyne as it were.

I don't know why: one of yesterday's wee men bigging up their role in their final years.

Happens to us all I suppose. He is a bit of a twot though.

Latchford helped cover up the Manston monitors removal and pollution with Button, Berry and Sproates at KIACC/TDC.

Your 7:56 post and others.

What I think does not matter. The truth is that you have accused Cllrs by name of being corrupt. It will eventually be for a jury to decide your fate.

I wonder if you realise everything that you post remains on Google servers forever, and that Google have your IP address from you can be identified?

I watched a small yacht trying to negotiate it's way into the marina at low tide the other day. It was a tortuous process with the boat having to follow a windy route to avoid the large sandbank which has built up in the entrance. A couple of years ago my mate brought his boat down and swore he'd never come back after grounding it three times whilst trying to reach his berth. It's my perception that the marina is the one successful part of the harbour. How long will it be before the marina (and the working part of the harbour)becomes unusable because of the failure to dredge the channel?

Allan Mallinson said...

Richard, there is a weirdo, who now infests your blogsite and who formerly did the same over on Thanetonline until Michael started deleting his comments, who is obsessed with all things Manston.

Apart from insisting that planes land there with no fire cover and that those on a normal flight path approach are illegal and should be fined, he insults anyone who attempts to correct him.

Add his constant naming of councillors and officers in his unsubstantiated corruption allegations and the potential for legal recourse is high.

Whilst all this may not bother you, it does destroy the usual flow of debate and witty comments on your site. Eventually every thread, irrespective of subject matter, will be taken over for his pet gripes.

John Holyer said...

Allan Mallinson,

You are correct in what you say. His nonsense has gone on long enough and he is no longer an amusing weirdo. He is harmful.

I have considered buying software to hunt down his IP.

What a brilliant link 8.17, that article on another cash black hole art centre in Birmingham rings so many bells regarding Turner in Margate. Should be featured in the Gazette.

Anonymous said...

I find holyer and mallinson offensive.

Anonymous said...

Anon 11:39, glad you think an article about the closure of an art gallery is brilliant whereas I suspect most people would consider it rather sad. Obviously you are one of these hate Turner merchants despite the fact that it has done wonders for Margate Old Town, the lower High Street and Harbour area. Sometimes money has to be invested in one area to help create it in another.

What would you have by choice, run down areas perpetuated?

Anonymous said...

Strangely enough, 11:57, I find what Holyer and Mallinson say about the Manston troll very accurate. Such people destroy blogs.

Anonymous said...

Re 12.01 "done wonders" I walked along there this morning in peak season it was dead. What about having respect for the people who have to work to pay the tax to fund all this stuff.

Anonymous said...

How convenient for your argument that this morning it was dead. Yesterday I went through the area at about 1pm and returned later at 4.15 pm. Each time it was thronging with people with many sitting at the tables outside the bars and cafes. Just look at how many new businesses have started up in the once abandoned old town.

As for the tax payers, I am one as well and it pleases me to see the money doing some good rather than the many waste that is so frequently the case.

Anonymous said...

How many of those businesses that have started up are actually making money? I'm glad a lot of rich DFLs have decided to spend their golden handshakes tarting the place up and agree it is much better than what was there before, but is it a long term solution? Only asking, not necessarily criticising.

Also has anyone else heard the rumours that working at the new Sands Hotel is akin to slave labour?

Anonymous said...

Rubbish!

Peter C said...

Presumably you're a rival hotel owner 11:48, as I know several people who have recently started working at The Sands Hotel and they all seem very pleased with their jobs!

Anonymous said...

Interesting how an anonymous contributor was down in Margate Old Town in the morning at peak season and it was dead. Similarly Anon knew a musician who rubbished Broadstairs folk week over on Thanetonline. Yet again Anon has heard that working in the Sands Hotel is akin to slave labour.

What makes us think we have a knock Thanet merchant in our midst.

Anonymous said...

Who are these Holyer and Mallinson weirdos and their threats of libel and IP something or other?

A few stale pensioners trying to close down the debate on the Manston pollution and TDC corruption?

Perhaps they can highlight on their own blogs any inaccuracies, errors or lies?

Anonymous said...

Hhhmmm Holyer pops up then Mallinson in their tagteam on why isn't manston successful.

Anonymous said...

I am not a rival hotel owner, Peter, or a Thanet knocker, anons. Merely someone who has heard that the hedge fund millionaires who run the Sands have little regard for modern working practices.

Peter C said...

Well I heard my info directly from several friends + one family member who all work there. Where did you hear yours? I want to compare which is likely to be the most reliable.

Anonymous said...

4:21, if you are not a Thanet knocker I would hate to read the comments of someone who is!

Anonymous said...

OK, you win Peter. It was just a woman in the kebab shop on friday night who told me, but she was very drunk.

Anonymous said...

I ask a sensible question about working practices at the Sands Hotel and suddenly I'm a 'Thanet knocker'. Presumably you are all the type of people who would still happily be sending six year olds up chimneys. I should not have been surprised you are probably all moronic Thanet inbreds.

Peter to answer your question I too heard it from a direct source so my information is as valid as yours.

Peter C said...

Only 1 direct source? I heard it from 5, so I guess this make my info 500% more valid.

Still, if you believe they're paying below legal minimum wage then I strongly suggest you report them to the appropriate authorities. This tends to be more effective than posting anonymous comments on blogs.

Anonymous said...

Does the Sands hotel even have a chimney?

Anonymous said...

Nothing to do with wages Peter, more to do with conditions, as anyone with more than two brain cells to rub together might have deduced from my chimney comment.

And I'm not going to play your pathetic game of 'I've got more friends/sources than you'. So there.

Peter C said...

What conditions? Again, report them to the authorities... or if they're just being unethical (rather than illegal) then contact the press! Or would you rather your friend suffers and things carry on as before?

Anonymous said...

Peter, she's already written to the Gazette, as well as contacted Ian Driver who promises to look into things.

Anonymous said...

Oh you're so black and white Peter. Probably comes from staring at all those boobs ;-)

Peter C said...

So you can't even tell us what conditions you're concerned about. Obviously I was right first time, you're a rival hotel owner.

Anonymous said...

Knobknuckle.

David Castle said...

Peter, he is just an argumentative twit who, whatever you say, seeks to contradict. He will never produce facts, never go to the proper authorities with his allegations and simply seeks to provoke an argument. His inbred Thanet nonsense is typical because he must have read, as we all have several times, that you are a DFL from Peckham. Now stand by for him to rubbish Peckham.
