Toilet Protesters Stage Sit-In

Here I am in Jersey about to go into a taxing but blissfully tax-free meeting with the backers of A Snip at £900 for the Harley Street Vasectomy Clinic. Yet thanks to the power of the internet I can assume almost godlike powers of omniscience! Which is why I know that, right about now, pissed off locals are taking matters into their own hands and staging a protest at the open/closed/open/closed loos down on the east end of our lovely Blue Flag beach there in the Ms' P.

A quick scan of the tourist map of Jersey kindly provided by the 12 star Radisson I'm staying in reveals no fewer than 32 public khazis located on this sunny Channel Island, which is roughly the same size geographically as Thanet, but with about two thirds of the population. On the other hand, our beloved council can only manage to keep around 20 conveniences open across our septic isle. Giving Jerseyans, by my calculation, a lavvie for every 2,700 citizens, and us Thanetians one inconvenient convenience for every 6,500.

So, good luck to the protesters! It's about time people stood up, or sat down (depending on their gender and requirement) for their right to splash out whenever they want to!

Loads of money in Jersey, our council has to pay out on support services to pay for a more than fair share of the chav stay-at-home scum and sick-note fat bastards otherwise they might be able to afford to keep the loos open.

And loads more tourists in Jersey too, as they know they'll be able to spend a penny while their spending their dosh!

Thanks ECR - from your roving correspondent! I knew i could count on you.

If they were to leave it open surely it would create jobs for the boys?

You could say the States of Jersey were flush with (tax free) cash!

So how did 'Bog off Thanet Council!' go? Anyone there?

I agree TDC should open far more disabled loos for the fat sicknote scroungers to use. If they venture forth and spend their benefits in the economy ...

But they may be too busy for that (Black economy or can we not say that now ?)

To quote Jack landlord of The Shakespeare some twenty years ago

"To run a pub in Thanet you gotta count the chimneys. And accept that the folk with money in their wallets have their UB40s next to it."

IE Don't count on tourists and accept that those with cash to flash are probably dole fiddlers.

A small but select group gathered and was duly photographed in front of said loos at appointed time. The toilets were open!

But the council is intent on shutting them for the winter, just when the chilly weather makes me want to spend a penny!

Is it true that Ted Watt-Ruffell is to take over as Leader of the Council next year after Sandy stands down?

This what a top councillor said!

Do councillors require a CRB check?

Anonymous said...

CRB checks only apply to Labour councillors. The Tories refused to agree to such measures.

Talking of toilets and water - how about the metering for the south east that will take place due to over-development - and yes its us the public that will be paying for this.

One word sums up toilets and local government; 'wasters' (think about it)?

Anonymous said...

We had a meter installed (free to fit) and save over £200 a year by comparison with what we paid via water rate and we don't stint on our usage in the house. We have water butts to use on the garden so the rainfall gets recycled.

Socialism has created an underclass of wasters and scroungers. If they were forced to support themselves Thanet Council could afford a toilet on every street corner.

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about, concerning public loos.
The council could save a fortune by not supplying any at all.
What with all the pubs that are dotted around the Island, and the fact that most pub landlords are more than happy for people to wander in, use them, then amble on out again, there's really no need for public loos!
Why, the current landlord of the Artillery Arms was, only the other day, complaining that the trough in his gents toilet wasn't being used nearly enough.

The money that the council could save would negate any argument about money that they appear to waste!

The toilets next to the Tdc Hq are currently closed for maintence. How smart they are..why haven't are other toilets been given the same makeover ie College Sq toilets. Quess our leaders don't have to use them.

Anon 10:24, do you really believe that TDC don't have any toilets for staff in their own buildings & that they have to dash round the corner to use the public loos instead? An idiotic conspiracy theory even by Thanet standards!
