Big Deal Has Its Chips

Given all the hoo-ha about Margate's GB Pizza setting up shop in that London, it's about time to point out that Ramsgate is also doing its bit to export good grub to the rest of the nation!

The Bulgarian owner of Sunrise Fish and Chips here in the Millionaires' Playground tells me he's about to open another outlet down the road in Deal. That pretty much makes him a net exporter, given that anything beyond the Wantsum is viewed by most locals as suspiciously foreign.

Sunrise takes the accolade for best fish and chips in Ramsgate, in my humble proverbial. Lovely, freshly cooked food, humungous portions, and all served up with a smile and a small bill. What more could a Thanetian wish for!!??!

I dunno. They come over here, cooking good food, opening up successful businesses, employing people, contributing to the local economy. Tell Farage to put that in his Woodbine and smoke it!!

My Bulgarian colleague friend has been trying to find fellow country men around Ramsgate for years...he still cant find any after he graduated with a first class degree from Christ Church Uni last year. When is this hoarde actually going arrive Dicky?

V. friendly and amiable Bulgarian (yes I asked him) guy who works there. Even offered to put my used chip paper in the bin for me when outside the shop - wow! (Of course I did it myself, but you wouldn't get many people offering to do that out of nothing but genuine courtesy.) Big up Sunrise. I hope this Bulgarian guy doesn't disappear off to the Deal branch, it would be a loss to the town.

Agree - much better than the service with a scowl that you get at Peters Fish Factory

Ah, that would be Mr Farage you are referring to, Britains next Prime Minister!
Plus, you should also try the fish n chips in Minnis Road Birchington, and Archie's in Minster before boosting that ones business. These are both owned by foreign migrants, and are both excellent!

To welcome people properly to our shores it is necessary to know how many will arrive or it is impossible to plan. Hence pressure arises on schools, hospitals, housing etc.

We also needed to fill the vacuum left after the period of madness called Multiculturalism. Now the multicultural experiment is officially a failure and since it is not enshrined in law we can put it behind us.

Once the hate fuelling multicultural nonsense is fully cast aside we can all the better absorb people under the time tested system of equality and Common Law.

All looking good and my Romanian chippie mate is really enjoying living in a Common Law land in which he has a right to petition the Queen without fear of consequence. He is such a patriot but then so were so many immigrants to pre-multicultural UK.

In fact win win. Future immigrants to UK arrive in a country that has rediscovered itself.

You did tell your readership multiculturalism is so yesterday didn't you Richard ?

I don't believe I have ever mentioned the M word, 5.32pm. All I'm against is people knocking foreigners and using them as a scapegoat for their own miserable lives.

Something Farage and UKIP forget is that migrants contribute more to the economy than they take

Anonymous said...

Would this measure of economic contribution be like the one used to support the argument that bankers create all of the wealth in the UK and so, they deserve massive salaries and bonuses?

Make sure you are getting cod and not pollock.

I am a banker, I manage wealth, I am 2nd gen immigrant and I live in thanet,

Who do I vote for?

Left Unity??

Official comment from UKIP there at 6.08pm.

Meanwhile I've corrected the original article because the chaps at Sunrise are indeed Bulgarian, not Romanian as what I originally wrote. Oh well, they all look the same to me.

Shame they're not actually cooking East European food, though I guess that would be a bit too much for you inbred locals brought up on chips, curry and pizza!

Sunrise Fish & Chips are superb.

Anon 4:03, I think you will find that the chap you spoke to is actually Turkish but speaks excellent Bulgarian from having lived in that country for several years. The service is excellent.

Nick Cumber, I cannot tell if you are being serious, but I know from personal experience that there are many Bulgarians in Thanet, together with Latvians and Russians.

If the person is Turkish how come he is able to work in the UK as Turkey is not in the UK and getting UK visiting permits is very difficult?

Well… I asked the guy in English 'Where do you guys come from' and he said Bulgaria, he never mentioned Turkey. I had assumed him to therefore be Bulgarian. but I am equally delighted if he is from Turkey (I even own a t-shirt with Turkiye written on it!). Maybe we should all head down there as a FishnChip flash mob event, and can settle it once and for all for everyone. I'll be the one dressed up as a giant bottle of tomato ketchup ;-)

Excuse me, 8:52, but didn't immigrants introduce curry and pizza whilst chips are French Fries. Hardly inbred, more imported, what!

11:27, if there are many Russians should we not worry that Mr Putin might decide to invade to protect their interests.

Margate has a proud tradition of making people welcome who set up home here

Our national dish (along with Vindaloo - la la - Indiahhh) is actually Jewish by the way by Porto and Spain:

11:27 pm - I am being serious. I think perhaps he was looking for people under 35 (undergraduate types) who were not being employed by farmers to pick the fruit and veg that would otherwise be left to rot in the fields.
