What Do You Think Of It So Far?

Here in Bournemouth, everything is lovely. Not a piece of litter or a barker's nest to be seen. However, my spies back there in the tip of Kent are reporting a different story!

It's been a month since Thanet Duffer Central introduced their new rubbish regime, and things don't appear to be getting any better. Reader John writes:

I live in a back street mews where we have the large, wheeled, communal, dumpster-type bins for general rubbish, food waste and recycling. Until recently they had not been emptied since October. There were maggots in the food waste bin, which stank to high heaven. TDC did come and empty them after I phoned them, but when I spoke to one of their officials on the general topic of the new recycling system, and the possibility that not everyone was putting the correct rubbish in the correct communal bins, he said that if they discovered any rubbish in the wrong bins they would fine every property in the street. Unbelievable.

Not only that, but the seagull-proof sacks are just being thrown around by the bin men without any due care and attention, the result being that household waste is littering the entire street.

Well John, it seems from what you say that the island is reverting back to the bad old days of 2007 - where my photo's from in fact. Even the Isle of Thanet Gazunder has latched onto the rubbish state of affairs, reporting that hideous great rats have been spotted roaming the streets of Cliftonville (click here for the full story).

I dunno, it seems that for every step TDC take forward, they take eleven steps back! So, in the spirit of Back To The Future, here's a little reminder of a fone jacking I performed on them half a decade ago, during their 'Drop It And Cop It' campaign. Enjoy!

Over on Thanetonline according to the floating voter, Michael, things have been getting so much better the last couple of years under Labour. Presumably you must have been misinformed, Richard.

Why does Cllr Epps insist on posting on every blog? He is a fool and should be silent.

Anonymous said...

Leave Epps alone! He's busy covering up the Thor pollution at Broadstairs!

Stick to the plot, wiseguys.

God help us said...

You mean the lack of rubbish collections is some sort of plot, surely Richard if typhus returns (due to the rats) then they will lose Council tax

A significant percentage of the members of Thanet Council are “lazy good for nothings”, “don’t have a clue about what’s being discussed” and “are not fit to run Legoland”. Read councillor Ian Driver’s damning verdict on council behaviour in the new issue of THANET WATCH magazine.

Is it typhus or typhoid from polluted water?

But what about Veolia, the multinational company at the heart of our wonderful waste management system? In the new issue of Thanet Watch there's a lot of interesting stuff about this French global giant and shows what a truly rotten outfit they are.

No wonder the area smells as bad as Paris these days.

Look, it's hard enough pulling off my Twankey, let alone having to keep a watch in the wings on my smartphone at the same time for all the 0%/Thor/pollution rubbish! Do us all a favour and feck off!

It's typhus from rats and typhoid and cholera from dirty water.

Southern Water and TDC have yet to explain the towns sewers and water pumps. And of course dumping shit in the sea.

A bored housewife writes: overpromising and underdelivering are common to local councils, TDC in that respect is probably no worse. Our rubbish collection in leafy Westcliff has been fine, apart from the day when my husboid absent-mindedly put the whole silver bucket in the gateway and they took it away entirely. Calls to Refuse HQ have elicted warm words and gracious promises of bucket delivery - which we have been awaiting for nearly 2 weeks... Altogether now: All I want for Christmas is a food-waste bucket, a food-waste bucket, a food-waste bucket.... A valuable suggestion for this year's Thanet Panto songs....

Just remind me and W Epps who was running the show when your street full of rubbish photo was taken in 2007?
If you have got any sense ECR you will see if you can get a summer season in Bournemouth as well as panto. Seven miles of golden sand and the only time you might get disturbed by aircraft noise is when the air show is on, and what a show it is with 250,000 visitors on each day its on.

My rubbish collection's OK, but I live in a palace, with space to store all of the waste containers and to be able to put them out at the bottom of the drive on waste collection day. The system implemented is totally unsuitable for people living in terraces with no driveway or frontage, i.e. most of Thanet. It is particularly unsuitable for people living in flats. If someone living in your block can't be bothered to put waste in the right bins who gets fined? The whole block? The response quoted from TDC ("We'll fine the whole street") is no surprise. They can't admit they've got it wrong so they blame the customer. My advice to anyone who isn't happy - contact your councillor and keep contacting them until the matters is resolved to your satisfaction. It's high time these useless freeloaders did some work for their money.

"It's high time these useless freeloaders did some work for their money."

I agree to a degree, but as we have seen before, local policies are usually handed down from central government, and I cannot help feeling that the litter and dog turd situation, and the waste management fiasco are part of a deliberate ploy to demoralise us, to incite anger and to ultimately cause chaos (orde ab chaos).

Perhaps the powers that be are plotting an end to TDC?

To be fair to TDC, they only receive a small fraction of the loot from the extortion racket.

God only knows what happens to the lion's share, although as we have seen, plenty was gambled and lost on derivatives by KCC or invested in the great Icelandic carry trade racket, (while the criminal bank directors responsible are being sheltered by the City of London, from the Icelandic warrant for their arrest.)

We also know that nefarious third sector, Common Purpose type outfits are receiving large handouts with which to brainwash our kids, turn them against their elders, and even implant them with suicidal thoughts.

Oh yes, there is some nasty shit going on with your hard earned council tax.

Methinks it is time to sharpen our wits and revisit our Common Law rights, to take back power over our own community.

And on that blue note, I'm off to Beddington Junction.

Don't have nightmares!

It's hard stuff, ECR, but I am afraid that it is our reality and we shall need to face up to it at some stage.

If you want to keep it light-hearted, just say the word and I shall stay away.

Is the picture of a different waste collection system under a different administration in a different decade and thus a recycling joke?

This one won't pass edit.

But I heard there is a soft drink factory setting up at Poorhole Lane. Taking advantage of the former area's rich history of ink and dye manufacture.

Using locally sourced water the new enterprise will make Dye It Seri Cola.

To be sure of a place on the chopping room floor.

I heard that Southern Water attended to restore water supply to a chemical factory in Margate. The valve was seized and grimy.

When asked what the delay was the fitter lisped "Well you try handling this awful Thor cock"

Far be it from me to scare monger. But the fact is plague pits were rarely if ever used for plague alone (Poor Hole Lane. They may also have been the refuse disposal of their day (topicality). But they also contain other deaths. Like anthrax. Whereas plague would now be safely gone. Not so with other lurgies.

All should be well unless soluble solvents enter the pit .........

Then there could be a long term outbreak of whiner whinger indolent disease. Has anyone seen symptoms present in Thanet ?

8:43, I do not need reminding about 2007, I was here, but I was being sarcastic about Michael's claims that things have improved in the last two years. Seems to me that the same old problems are simply being recycled.

Good to see Richard Card is on form again. We have yet to hear from Cllr Epps on the Thor Broadstairs pollution. He seems to be pretending there is no pollution so he can continue doing nothing except dull postings and Tory party propaganda here.

Driver is right: lazy good for nothings.

Anonymous said...

It is not Richard Card, twit, but Bluenote and Rick will not be pleased with you for mixing them up.

Anonymous said...

Richard Card and Bluenote are the same person (but not the sane person).

Anonymous said...

Cue rambling discussion about Thanet gun ranges which nobody understands.

Something about the Deal bomb and episticolectomy from Sericol.

Possibly Thor mercury.

Anonymous said...

Does it really matter who they are? Everyone on here dismisses Rick / Bluenote / Tim as nutters anyway. Perhaps more surprising (if they're really different people) is that they dismiss eachother as nutters. That's why they never comment on the other's posts, preferring to stay in their own little fantasy worlds.

Anonymous said...

Not sure you are right, Anon.

Rick's contributions usually centre around the gun range, Deal bombing and perjury committing councillors. They contain plenty of research detail with a certain relevance to actual events.

Bluenote is a them and us merchant with the people waking up at some point to overthrow the nasty Nazi establishment.

Tim is just a nutter who constantly twitters 'Time for Change' as though saying it will somehow bring it about.

Rick is quite polite, Bluenote is easily provoked and Tim is just bloody rude because he thinks no one knows who he is.

Anonymous said...

It's true that they all ignore each other's posts though. I wonder why that is?

Anonymous said...

Not quite true, 9:15, for Tim often refers to Rick's posts and uses the information from them on pollution.

Rick gets uptight if anyone refers to him as Bluenote, who he dismisses as just a conspiracy theorist.

Anonymous said...

Anon 9.15, I would guess because it takes one to know one!

good greif guess what my rubbish has been missed AGAIN. yes I put out everything the red bin blue bin brown bin black bin, but they bin and avoided emptying any of them _ which faceless executive is meant to be running this shambles, I used to get a great service but no Christmas tip this year boys
