And Away They Go...

...on the way-out, Wacky Races! (Thanks to reader Steve for the pics.)
Here come the Ant Hill Mob in the Bulletproof Bomb,
alongside Luke and Blubber Bear in the Arkansas Chuggabug...
Next is Penelope Pitstop in the Compact Pussycat...
Followed by Sergeant Blast and Private Meekly in the Army Surplus Special...
And here's Penelope Pitstop again... Oh no! She's going the wrong way!
But it looks like she's catching up with the Gruesome Twosome in the Creepy Coupe...
But Professor Pat Pending in the Convert-A-Car is overtaking all of them!
With the Slag Brothers in the Bouldermobile trailing way behind!

This is Richard Dastardly, for the Ramsgate Powerboat Weekend, signing off. And heading for a cool pint of Gadds' down on the Croisette!

A good event but shame not publicised and Manston spoiling it with off-route planes again.

Anonymous said...

Pray tell, in what way was the aircraft 'off-route'?

Anonymous said...

Well Charles, the pilot dropped off to ask directions to the airport and have an ice-cream!

Anonymous said...

The aircraft is off-route because it few over the beaches and towns - its meant to go over the rural end. you know that.

Obviously this costs the aircraft a bit more in fines (these have been declared and invoiced and collected?)and fuel but prevents the public being doused in fuel droplets at low-level.

The A380 has landed at Cardiff Airport for tests, does that mean it's no longer at manston?

Anonymous said...

Looks like it's just a flying visit to Cardiff from what I read.

Anonymous said...

Which of our councillors are on the Airport Committee and KIACC now? And where are the previous minutes?

Anonymous said...

BA has a maintenance base at Cardiff Airport, employing hundreds of workers, 11:04. Looks like Manston was a one-off for a few training tweaks.

Anonymous said...

look at the map of the area and draw a line down the runway and see where the route takes it .. oh look.. just where each aircraft flies ... correctly

Anonymous said...

incoherent 11:36 try again.

Anonymous said...

I am saying a proper centreline approach to the runway will fly over the main sands

Anonymous said...

if you want him to fly away from the beach he can't use the ILS system from several miles out that will ensure he is on the right track and at the correct altitude over the town

Anonymous said...

Yes 12:34 but that's illegal because of noise and fuel discharge - the rural end should be used.

12:39 the ILS radar system is frequently switched off and the promiosed Infratil upgrades haven't happened - you seem to be saying anything.

Anonymous said...

Did we find out who was on fire cover yesterday at Manston for the 2 planes?

No fire cover is illegal - as is covering it up.

Anonymous said...

I am not a aviation specialist but I am intrigued by the comment by 10-48am that aircraft are meant to go over the rural end.

Is there anyone out there who could help explain that comment? When you say meant does that refer to any rules or regulations that are inforceable and if it does why are they not being inforced? Just curious thanks.

Anonymous said...

you can't land from the end the wind is coming from!!! you need to come in from Ramsgate sometimes.. it isn't illegal either ..

Anonymous said...

You still looking for names of firemen on duty? a bit obsessive ..all aircraft were in normal operating hours yesterday.. why do you think none were on duty?

Anonymous said...

12:46 (1): it's in the airprot 106 operatign rules.

12:46(2): there was no wind. Certainly not stormy weather which tends to be an old Infratil excuse.

12:56: yes - not really obsessive but the Manstonites claim they were on duty on a Sunday. How do we check? Fire cover has been removed before to save costs - as with the radar.

Thank you for your explanation 12-46pm but could you explain what the 106 airport operating rules are, are these inforceable in law also it was pretty windy yesterday when the plane came over the powerboats you can see how choppy the water was. I have called myself curious so you know its me thanks.

Anonymous said...

Have a read of them curious and let us know what you think - Infratil or TDC will have a copy. Windy? baking sunshine and a light breeze more like - you'll probably see the sunbathers in the photos?

Anonymous said...

How do you know your local fire brigade are on duty and not sloping off.. they are far more likely to be needed.
Tell you what, get your arse up the airport. Park by TG. From there you can look across and watch the chaps... Arrivals are often announced by a loud speaker, you can listen in.

Anonymous said...

So who was on fire duty yesterday? Today even? You work there and say how great it all is not me.

To make it easier for you if you can't find the fire roster. Who were the customs or arrival hall or warehouse folks yesterday?

It doesn't have to be exact but a bit of confirmation the place was even open yesterday.

Anonymous said...

You're getting silly..
I will provide names if you give me yours and a contact email address.
That sounds fair to me.

Anonymous said...

I'm Anon as are you.

How many were on duty yesterday then?

I suspect you don't work at the airport as claimed nor know anything about fire cover etc?

But prove me wrong.

Anonymous said...

I don't work for the fire dept., I do however work at the airport ..
Pass contact details, as asked, and I shall do my best to help
The airport operated at both RFFS CAT 5 and RFFS CAT 6 for evening arrivals.. I shall let you Google that

Anonymous said...

The other chap didn't work for the airport then ne was just BSing?

OK 455 who was on fire duty yesterday and what were the aircraft landing reg no's?

I don't understand the RFFS jargon but I'm sure you do and can explain

Anonymous said...

Bet Buchanan forgot this for RFFS:

When an airport is located near a body of water such as a river, the airport fire service will be required to operate a water rescue service. London City Airport FRS, for example, are capable of performing advanced water rescue and is equipped with several rescue craft for dealing with aircraft incidents in the surrounding docklands area.

The BA Dreamliner just flew over Ramsgate beach and it was quite quiet.

Anonymous said...

It can't land at Manston as it's only CAT 5 ie c.70 seaters only. But when did Infratil and Manston ever follow the rules?

The Fire brigade will have knocked off an hour ago anyway.

Anonymous said...

Please, you are all humouring a total nutter. In his book the only landing acceptable would be one that descends vertically onto the middle of the runway. As for the firecrews, the names of each watch members are on the website, but he would not look them up. Just wants to keep churning out the same silly claim that there is no fire cover.

Anonymous said...

Yet you seem to have the weird view that the off-route flights are acceptable over the towns? And that there is fire cover but you can provide not one fact?

The website details a leaving party of 2008 not yesterday's on-duty firemen. Provide it if you can.

Anonymous said...

Planes approach from either runway direction and there is nothing in the 106 forbidding that. You show one scrap of evidence that they cannot overfly Ramsgate.

Anonymous said...

The 106 details that naughty chap: the rural end is to be used. You must try harder with your excuses.

Next you'll be saying there is monitoring of pollution?

Many people must be concerned what Manston staff have doing or not doing, especially when receiving public monies.

Do you all recognise that you are trying to reason with the Manston Aquifer Troll? He's having great fun.

Anonymous said...

He may be but I'm writing this while waiting for a cancer appointment. Do you work at Manston 6:59?

Anonymous said...

Nobody mentioned the aquifer except 6:59 the discussion was on fire cover. I'd be concerned if Manston staff have been covering up these failings.

Anonymous said...

OMG, he is back to talking to himself in support of his own idiotic statements. Also, a year or so back he used to sign himself off as 'cancer victim.' Now he is just waiting for an appointment.

The A380 was flying from Kent to Cardiff to be based at the latter:

Renamed this blog Bicker About Manston then it would be what it says on the tin.

Allan Mallinson said...

Very apt, 9:24, but it is all down to some person with a pathological hatred of the airport and one who puts up one ridiculous comment, as with no fire cover after 5 pm, after another. Even when those better qualified to know dispute his statements, he still persists.

He has been plaguing Thanetonline for months, years possibly, and now seems to have switched his main effort here. Whether he is a nutcase or someone determined to cause blog administrators to tire of it and close down, who knows? Suffice to say that the desire to do time for him can become overwhelming.

John Holyer said...

Allan,

The evidence suggests to me that he is a genuine nut case.
