Let's Talk About Quex, Baby!

Phew! What an exhausting week!

One positive story that caught the old glass eye, however, was the news that the Powell-Cotton Museum at our lovely Quex Park has made it through to the final five in the Guardian's 2014 Museums Heritage Awards. That's out of 350 museums across the UK!

So if stuffed tigers is your thing, do tool along to the Grauniad's website and vote - you can do that by clicking here. You've got until midnight on Friday 11 April.

I must say that, although the exhibits out there are a bit bizarre, the garden is gorgeous. Plus my housekeeper Natasha and I have enjoyed some jolly good grub at the Quex Barn eatery, which I can thoroughly recommend!

Right! It's Friday night, and I'm off down the Croissette for a bottle of Dom. Do pop back here next week for all the Thanet stories the others don't print, including a thumbs up and a thumbs down for our beloved council, more revelations about the Pleasurama eyesore, the Ramsgate business that's about to open up abroad, and why UKIP are running scared in the Millionaires' Playground! Pip pip!

Good news as Quex is an interesting museum: stuffed animals and so on.

The museums will have more potential for tourism without the knackered Jumbos wheezing overhead from Manston and I never saw any Dutch tourists from KLM?

Visit Kent estimate that 64,000 people are employed in tourism in Kent. Being one of the 12 District then at least 5,000 of these jobs will be in this area.

Oh 8:02, don't do yourself down. Tourists will flock to Thanet just to hear you speak.

Richard have you or your readers signed the 38 degrees Legal Aid for inquest representation for Cherry Groce petition ?

It is a very important issue to everyone in UK.

thanks 8.39. I signed via another website. How tragic that the family of the black woman shot in her own home by Police in 1985, that is thought to have triggered the Brixton Riots, cannot get legal aid for their inquest into what happened, whilst all the other parties are fully funded by the taxpayer?

I guess it kind of puts into perspective my mother's situation, where we have Councillors using planning personnel to drive her, and her disabled partner, from their home, without the relief of legal aid. (Meanwhile of course, consent for all kinds of development are happening all around them?).

Good news that Manston is closing and the last Saudi Cargo flight tomorrow if it's not cancelled already.

Why would KCC and Gale insist on a Parkway railway station now, except for pouring yet more tarmac?

Cllr Driver raises some good points on EKO: none of the huge housing estates for Thanet make any sense at all - especially at Discovery Park.

I'm confused now, who do you want us to vote for? Driver, Garbutt or UKIP?

Anonymous said...

What if Garbutt refuses to stand again? TDC is still very corrupt isn't it?

Anonymous said...

Garbutt already got his electioneering leaflets out but for mayor in May 2014 and MP in May 2015. He doesn't say where but that is because he probably does not know himself.

Maybe John Worrow is your man?

The latest from Tims blog..

"I am Ramsgate’s Mayor-in-Waiting.

I am the future."

If Tim is the future I think I will stay in the past, thanks.

You may well be stuck in the past 3:48 like many pro-Manstoners.

Why you would want an airport on your water supply or a corrupt council only you can know.

The Duffers can hardly improve things can they? Another year of them? Another 5 years of them?

Anonymous said...

The Manstoners are just upset because Saudi Cargo ended today and KLM later this week.

Manston is finished.

All that's left is an explanation from TDC and RTC on the fines and missing monitors and pollution levels they've tried to cover up.

Clive had a monthly meeting with Buchanan for years he says and never raised it?

Anonymous said...

The Duffers are keeping quiet on Thor mercury and Dreamland and Pleasurama too. It's a month since Pleasurama was cancelled.

Anonymous said...

I agree totally 5:34. Garbutt for Mayor!

Anonymous said...

Tim's also on Twitter: @timg33 and raises the 0% fraud, a Margate Town Council now being discussed at TDC, Infratil and TDC corporate manslaughter etc etc.

We need direct elections at KCC and TDC etc rather than The Duffers cabal making secret appointments to Leader, Mayor etc.

Nothing's happened on Ramsgate Port either.

Tim Garbutt there, so democratic he won't allow comments on his own blog, come on Tim, open up comments on your own blog, allow the right of reply!
And why are you referring to yourself as "Tim's on...."' It's perfectly obvious it's you, the language used on other blogs and your own is exactly the same!

Anonymous said...

Tim's raised Thor mercury, the 0% corruption and secret elections on his blog Anonymouse what do you think of those issues?

Anonymous said...

Evening Tim,
Open up the comments on YOUR blog and I'll let you know my thoughts there.
Dave.

Anonymous said...

I doubt Anonymous Dave is worth hearing although he seems to think so!

Anonymous said...

That's a fair enough comment Tim, but again hardly democratic eh?

Is it just Cargolux now flying into Manston? KLm have stopped already?

Anonymous said...

Klm have yet to stop .. Neither have cargolux

Anonymous said...

Manston is on the up though eh 9:17?

Anonymous said...

Yes, 9:33 .. Short interlude first .. Come to the Surin and discuss it..

Anonymous said...

Is there any news on Manston?

Anonymous said...

This site seems to have been totally hijacked by he who talks to himself or about himself in the third person. The trouble with idiots is that they are incapable of realising that everybody else is not as stupid as they are.

Anonymous said...

A small jet flew int Manston today but not even sure KLM did.

What's happening with Pleasurama?

Anonymous said...

Garbutt should spam his own blog with his obsessive witterings about the airport. For feck's sake you'd think he would shut his piehole now that he's got his way. He makes the duffers look like a bunch of Einsteins.

Anonymous said...

Eastcliff Richard for thanet president.

Trebles all round!

Today I saw a plane land at Manston and out got a lot of men in white coats. I wonder who they have come to collect.

Anonymous said...

Garbutt, maybe?

Anonymous said...

Is it a chemical hazard team?

Anonymous said...

Maybe they just like white coats!
