Crappy New Year!

Hello ECR fans! In fact, hello generally!

As you can see from the press release below, I've wrested control of the old blog back from those chaps at Angloway Media - hurrah! It was a tough fight, but once I offered the princely sum of one whole British sov, they caved in. So it's out with the old and in with, er, the old again.

What, I hear you ask, is new for 2014 then? Well, not a lot really. Our beloved council is still struggling to clean up after the festivities, and has had to apologise for getting it sooooo wrong with the new recycling system. Same old, same old.

Along the trendy East Cliff here in the Millionaires' Playground, the shelters have been vandalised once more. My contact in the trench coat and trilby writes: 'The shelter nearest the kiosk on Victoria Parade was wrecked last night. Five windows smashed....'
The same East Cliff spy also clocked another of these recently renovated shelters, the one closest to the park, smashed on New Year's Day, adding: 'It also reeks of human poo.' Eurgh!
It's not the first time these shelters have been vandalised, and you have to wonder what kind of nitwit knuckle-draggers are perpetrating these acts of wilful incivility. As you know, I'm not the hang 'em and flog 'em type, but I have to say I'd be the first in line to pop along and blow raspberries if the woefully short arm of the law were ever to catch up with them and they were made to do community service!

Better news, however, on the beer front. I was invited along to the launch of Gadds' Uberhop last night at the excellent Ramsgate Music Hall. This splendid, lagerised (technical term) beer was first brewed for the Planet Thanet Beer Festival in 2010, and has been revived due to popular demand. I must say, I don't remember much about the 2010 Beer Festival, thanks mostly to the Uberhop. Similarly, I don't recall all that much about last night! Happy days!

With all the talk of pooh and damage to the shelters maybe the answer is with Brussels.
Their Sprouts have a lot to answer for ☺

Just in case anyone was wondering where their comments have gone, I am not currently accepting anything that mentions cancer, airport monitors, Tim Garbled or The Daily Thanet. So there.

£100 REWARD.

A reward of £100 is offered for information leading to the conviction of any person involved in criminal damage to the Ramsgate promenade shelters.

I think your money's safe, Mr Readit!

Decent people wouldn't need a reward to turn in the culprits.

This from my source:

The shelter nearest the kiosk was vandalised between 16:00 - 17:00 on Saturday 4th January.  3 boys and 1 girl aged 13-14 were seen smashing the shelter.  The girl was wearing a white beret.  They then ran off in the direction of the Granville Theatre.

PS: Nor am I publishing comments about firing ranges!

It does raise the issue of whether TDC or The Ramsgate Society are responsible for ongoing repair of the shelters?

This outsourcing of public facilities/funds can end up not solving the problem of an inadequate council.

We're now funding TDC to do almost nothing - and paying for charities such as The Ramsgate Society.

Should TDC budgets be cut and invested into the Ramsgate Society etc?

What about comments about Jimmy Savile? That chap from Pannone solicitors wants a single inquiry.

Seems reasonable. All these internal examinations going on. Like by BBC and by Sue Ryder Homes.

One Judicial inquiry to weigh the lot.

A review of KCC childrens/care homes would be better 8:22 - with over 40 social services staff now sacked after children going missing it seems a disaster being downplayed.

And how many extra winter pensioner deaths in Kent this year?

Did Jimmy Savile vandalise the shelters? Now that would make an interesting story. I can just see the Daily Mail running it, no doubt saying Savile originally came from Bulgaria. Thanet Life would of course repeat it locally.

Now then, now then!

Shelters why bother let them wreck them and knock them down . Don't waste my money on them, rubbish and yet more rubbish this new fangled recycling scheme is just great, they get it for free as I take another car load to the tip, I'm on first name terms with the staff now, I can't remember last time tdc actually picked it up. But I'm sure it's going well in someone's tiny mind.
