Bush Tucker Trial

While you lot freeze your knackers and/or clackers off, I'm suffering in my jocks in 40+! I've moved up country to Jimmy Wicket's holiday home (he's taken a bit of a shine to me), where I'm undergoing ordeal by barbie and esky, which involves being force fed juicy steak, yummy prawns and slabs of ice cool stubbies. At this rate, I'm very tempted to take up Jimmy's offer of becoming his stooge and making Oz my permanent place of abode.

Mind you, the heat brings its own risks. The whole state is dry as a nun's nasty, and everywhere is on bushfire alert. When you consider that almost 200 people lost their lives due to bushfires in this area a year ago, it puts a few Poms whingeing about a bit of snow, some disrupted trains and a lack of grit into perspective, doesn't it?

I'll leave you with that thought, and to show I'm not totally out of touch with the latest happenings in the Cannes of Kent, here's a couple of shots a reader sent me of how the Pleasurama/Royal Sands/Titanic development is coming along!

East Of The Wantsum... And South Of The Border

Here's this week's EotW. My last before Christmas, as I got a call yesterday from Bev, my agent, saying they desperately need me as a last minute fill-in for Jimmy Cricket in Oz!

So this morning I was... er, well, I was going to say dashing, but as ever Kent County Council didn't bother to grit the roads down here in the tip of Kent... so I was gingerly mincing along the snowy roads, visiting the various sheds out at Westwood to buy last minute essentials like kecks and Marmite before the limo for Heathrow picks me up at three.

So, on Christmas day, I'll be stuffing myself down under in an effort to acquire an even bigger roof over the toolshed! I'll send you a postcard. Pip pip!

BBC Declares Australia A Republic

Her Majesty The Queen Gawd Bless 'Er must have choked on her All-Bran as she surfed the BBC News website over breakfast this morning. In their background article on our Gordon Master's go-ahead today for another 456 nuclear power plants, the Beeb compared the UK's nuclear stance to other countries such as the US, France and Australia. Here's what they wrote about Oz:

Australia produces no nuclear power. Plans to review whether the country should develop nuclear power were abandoned after Kevin Rudd, who opposed the move, was elected president in 2007.

Holy revolutions, they kept that quiet! No, no, it's a mistake of course, Kevin Rudd was elected Prime Minister not President, and Her Madge is still technically the head of state down under. They've rectified the error now, but I took the precaution of snapping the goof earlier in the day ha ha! It just goes to demonstrate that the cracks are beginning to show after the recent cutbacks at the BBC, where the news website is now rumoured to be down to just the 14 monkeys with typewriters.

And speaking of monkeys, EDF (or Electricité de France to give them their full title) have announced that they are keen to build four of Gordon's new glow-in-the-dark power plants. I don't know about you, but their inability to keep the lights burning around here for longer than a few days at a stretch hardly inspires confidence!
