Reader Sean sent me this photo from the north side of the island, where a chap driving a Highways Agency van reversed his water-Ferrari into the briny, then, yes, you've guessed it.
Sean writes: 'Luckily there was a happy ending. A nice lady in a 4x4 drove to his rescue and tugged him off!'
Glad to hear he was left with a smile on his face, Sean!

Is this what we pay our rates for?
Highways Agency vans being wrecked with sea water while being used to tow speed boats out of the sea. Perhaps he should be sacked, and his bosses for such lax control of publicly funded vehicles.
Looks like a highways maintenance vehicle not Highways Agency so could be a contractor and therefore the vehicle is his own or his company's at least.
Was it McGonigal at the coast considering her options?
McGonigal probably paid for it. She is a sucker for anything boat shaped.
And plane-shaped too: the Manston missing fines haven't emerged form her accounts yet
That sounds a bit rude!
Gawd knows what she's stuffed in there!
So now it is just a van and not a Highways Agency van
