Ferrygate Fixed!

Cripes! I see that green machine Councillor Ian 'Pile' Driver has fixed it for me to have my ferry fiasco fixed!

A bit of background. I popped a complaint on the excellent FixMyStreet website yesterday, moaning about the £3.4m of council tax the Duffers have poured down the TransEuropa plughole. I wasn't really expecting a response, as the site is more concerned with barkers' nests, abandoned jalopies and street lights that are on the fritz.

But only 24 hours later, the Right Honourable Member for Northwood Ward has marked it as 'job done'! Hurrah! If only everything in life was that simple!

More interestingly, the Dornier lift has apparently been abandoned tonight due to strong winds.

ECR You have received over 400,000 comments since 2008.

Achieved anything yet ?

Wot Fannit needs is culture. Art and jazz and grub. And DFLs and appreciators of architecture (that has so far survived the earner burner torch.)

And a rail link and an ice rink and a ferry and an airport. Oh and a clean water supply.

After 400,000 plus further comments? F-ck all will have changed and the locals will carry on their incessant moaning. Rabbit rabbit rabbit. Portas sent the message using just 50% of Chas and Dave.

Anon 4.04 what ECR and a few other Thanet bloggers do is expose the truth about what is going on in Thanet and in particular keeping an eye on the local council, something the TDC scrutiny committee is supposed to do but often does not.

You'll struggle 4:04 to have a clean water supply with the airport on top of it.

Your complaint about rabbit could best be directed at the councillors and civil servants, rather than ECR, who've achieved nothing except Westwood Cross which has destroyed the town centres.

And now with the cupboard bare another consultation on having an economic strategy.

Mr Garbled has left the building.

And who ever said I wanted to achieve anything?

Richard Styles the RTC Town Clerk is now titling himself "Responsible Financial Officer". And MacGonigal's trying the "the councillors told me what to do" defence.

Looks like they're all getting worried about whose signature is on what.

If McG wants to try that old chestnut, she needs to give her claims some credibility by giving names dates and times, all of which will have been recorded in the minutes of the meetings she held with aforementioned councillors. Of course, if no minutes were kept there could be a problem and we would be back to the old "anyone can say anything" routine. Call me pedantic but I would expect meetings concerning a £3.4million hole in the public finances to have been minuted.

If I tell TDC that I can't afford to pay my Council Tax do you think they might let me off for a few years? Nobody else needs to know. They can form a little cabal to take the decision and then not tell anybody.

She already raised it - I was quoting her comments in the Gazette. While with the Secret Ferry Committee presumably not minuting anything for two years she can throw it back to the councillors...

Cue a bunfight of councillors and civil servants blaming each other then agreeing to keep silent.

TDC and RTC often don't keep minutes. They're all in it together as it were.

The next scandal will be the Manston fines.

Annon 6:43 You make one huge mistake. Even if minutes and records had been kept, you are assuming that TDC officers would tell the truth. No chance. They will say whatever is politic for the moment regardless of the reality.

Not keeping minutes should be a sackable offence in a bureaucracy -that's the point of a bureaucracy rather than this secrecy and subterfuge and downright porkies for sheer laziness and idiocy.

The first Pleasurama signs torn down: take them all down. We don't need Pleasurama or these useless councillors.
