Wonderwoman To Save Planet Thanet

In case you hadn't noticed, there's going to be a general election this year. Already I've had my knocker rattled by a nice young man from the Lib Dems. And this morning a leaflet extolling the virtues of Laura Sandys, Tory candidate for South Thanet, plopped through the letterbox.

As you know, I announced my backing for Laura after the current incumbent, Labour's Dr Steve Ladyman, accused Thanet bloggers of lying during that spot of bother with Euroferries last November. With only 664 votes in it, lovely Laura should only have to spin round a few times to walk it.

But it's not just her winning smile, flowing locks, sparkling eyes and gleaming gnashers that make me think of Wonderwoman every time I see her. No, she's 'committed to real change' and 'will serve every resident, with care for those in need, with a commitment to a better future, and with a determination to fight injustice'. A true superhero! She supports 'green collar jobs', 'local tourism jobs', and, of course, our poor beknighted fisherfolk, who can barely scrape together the dosh to run their 09 plate Range Rover V8s these days. She backs savers and pensioners, promotes local tourism, campaigns for safer roads, protects our environment, and raises money for charity.

Not only that, but she's posh totti too! Phwoar! No wonder her husband's Randy!

She can come on my poll any day! Lord, what am I saying?

Say you voted Sandy and she won by one vote. And say the blue rinsers had a one seat majority in the House of Commons - how would feel then?

On the other hand, Sandy has quite explicity said that if the airport needs night flights to survive then it isn't viable, in he opinion.

the lady also says "green" a lot, while supporting the development of the airport in the middle of our fair isle, rendering it the exact opposite of "green".

Her reasons for loving the airport are allegedly to get jobs for "third generation benefits claimants" who need the work.

Ladyman gets my vote.

Ladyman supports the airport too, and wants night flights.

The airport will be a key issue for many Ramsgate voters, I couldn't find any reference to it in Laura's leaflet. Maybe it would be a good idea for both Ms Sandys and Dr Ladyman to let us know their stance on Manston development and night flights in particular. It will have a direct bearing on how I vote.

I would!

Ladyman was one of the MPs that saved Brown's butt!

the airport will not be the a factor in the way most people vote because most people are not that sad!

Such grovelling are you after a OBE or something, would someone please pass me the sick bucket.

The people in Margate will vote for someone who is pro-airport. So whether or not they're in favour of it won't matter.

Last time I checked Margate wasn't in Thanet South, you have that windbag Roger Gale. Good luck with that!

That's why Ramsgate, Broadstairs and Sandwich need to break away from TDC asap. Leave Margate to rot with Cliftonville and Birchington.

All our council tax goes to Margate, and they only spend it on themselves and do what's best for them. Time for the south of the island to revolt.

We can start by boycotting shops and services based in Margate. There's hardly anything there that anyone wants anyway.

The south of the island is already revolting.

Particularly Newington, it even makes Northdown Road look classy!

Laura has the right sort of clout notwithstanding it comes amidst some traces of the old blue rinse. But she could leave an indelible tory blue mark on the South Thanet seat.

How about asking how much Wonderwoman has received from the non-dom millionaire, Lord Ashcroft, to pay for her glossy, out-of-date (because much of what she wants is already government policy)leaflets?

If you ask her why she's putting in policies that are already in place she seems to think she's got the government to adopt them due to her involvement.

She's very good at turning up at events uninvited then saying nothing.

Anybody guessing £50k, £60k or more? Makes the £25k given to S.Thanet Labour Party by Ken Wills look small change.

Without the £ooos she's received we wouldn't be inundated by her leaflets, her constant setting-up of 'iniatives' that we never hear any more about, her ability to door-knock in safe Tory areas day-by-day.

Oh, yes, don't forget the photograph is airbrushed very carefully.

Airbrushing is this a Mastoid Airport terminology?

As far as our family is concerned the Airport is a factor in voting.

The Politicians plans in Thanet have been winging it for too long.

Richard Eastcliff said...

Might I just point out that the photo I've used is way beyond 'airbrushed'!

Jesus you've turned blue.
Personally I think she'll be as bad as Ladyman, and will say anything to get elected.

But maybe I'm just a cynic.

By 'airbrushing' I meant on the latest leaflet where she's saving the world. She looks about 30 rather than the more accurate 50.

If you e-mail her and make nice, bland comments you get really sweet replies but...

if you e-mail and ask searching questions nothing back. Take her to task over anything especially over her air/sea rescue foul-up and it turns out she's liaising with the coastguard but ask for evidence of lives lost and, nothing.

Ask about the scaremongering over the 'walk-in clinics' and say where's the evidence GPs fear for their livelihoods if more of these cetres are unveiled, nothing. I could go on but you get my drift.

If you are concerned over her getting elected, challenge her and ask the questions she can't answer, then make up your mind whether or not to vote for her.

All the nasty remards are from jealous people. Laura is wonderful!

i meant to write the word "remarks"

Anonymous said...

Actually, i have met Laura and she is better looking in person than she is in photos. But does that matter?

She's not "man enough" though to stand up to the local tory mafia, in fact planning on using them for the electioneering, although always tries to distance herself from them when they are subjects of ridicule, quite often i believe!

She knows if she stands up and criticises them they won't come out to help her during the election.Same applies to Roger Gale. Does he ever comment on TDC councillors?
